I along with a group of friends went to Raireshwar where in lies the occurance of strange natural colors of a fairly small area which took place millions of years ago . Raireshwar is situated in Bhor Taluka near Pune, India , it has a famous temple and is known for its historical importance as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj took the oath of Maratha Samrajya in this temple at the age of 16 in 1645.
Years ago when I went to Mauritius we went to a place known as chamarel which top tourist destination over in that country , it has seven colored earth , the similar phenomenon could be found here in our very own Maharashtra.
The local named Gopal had the knowledge of this occurrence and guided us to the place as initially we could not have found that place, he told me that he had knowledge of this place from his grandparents and that place was of religious significance for them as they treat that place as holy ash , he also indicated that one tourist that came to that place many years ago and took samples shockingly he could get as many as 21 shades of colors from that same place.
This geological area is very small but one can see distinct colours (approximately red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow). The colors evolved through conversion of basaltic lava to clay minerals. Due to the tropical weather conditions, all water-soluble elements such as silicon dioxide have been washed out. The remains are the reddish-black iron- and aluminium oxides which create shades in blue, cyan and purple. The various colors developed due to the different compositions. I am sure Geologists will be intrigued by the dunes of multi-coloured lunar-like landscape and any visitor to this place will be mesmerized by its beauty and its surroundings.
