DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY
ONE DAY TREK
A day in the Simien Mountains gives you the chance to witness incredible views of a unique and stunning landscape. From Gondar you will take a drive into Debark to enter the park, pay the entry fees and head straight into the park where you may be able to view the endemic Gelada Baboons or the “bleeding heart baboon”. The car will then drop you off in Sankaber from where you will take an easy hike to see Geech Abyss and the spectacular Jinbar Waterfall. After lunch you will return to Debark/Gondar by car. An incredible trip, not to be missed.
TWO DAY TREK
A chance to explore one of the most beautiful and rugged landscapes in Africa: a dramatic skyline of jagged cliffs towering above the highlands. Trekking through the Simien Mountains you will pass small traditional hamlets, troops of Gelada Baboons foraging on the escarpment; and, with luck, you may even spot the Walia Ibex and Ethiopian wolves!
Day 1: Departing early morning from Gondar to Debark you will there meet your scout and guide and then enter the park. You can drive straight to Sankaber or hike in from Buyit Ras where you will likely see some Gelada Baboons. When you arrive in Sankaber you will be met with your supplies. Sankaber will be the first campsite on your trip – a stunning location among the peaks.
On Day 2: we rise early to hike to Jinbar Waterfall which plunges down into the Geech Abyss! You will see Gelada Baboons, known as the bleeding heart baboon due to the red patch of skin on their chests. You will stay overnight at a lodge in the mountains or head back to Debark for a hotel.
THREE DAY TREK
