Vegetables in Africa

There is a great deal of diversity in vegetables on the African continent. Some of these African vegetables originated on the continent, while some have been cultivated in Africa for so long that they have become African through their domestication and adaptation on the African soil. Some vegetables are pan-African, adapted across most parts of Africa. However, there are a few that are better adapted to only certain parts of Africa, fuelling regional variations.

Tackling Food Security with Traditional African Vegetables
The African continent is home to hundreds of indigenous vegetables and other food plants that fell out of fashion as well-known vegetables were introduced from other parts of the world. Plants such as the Avocado, Papaya, wild melon, and the African mango. These native plants provide rich nutrition, often attaining super food status, while surviving harsh conditions. Because of a lack of a research focus and scientific investment into these traditional food plants, they are lost to the world at large. Overcoming food and nutritional insecurity among women, pregnant and lactating mothers, and children under five years of age, remains a challenge in many developing countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

One of the avenues to tackle the issue of food security in Africa could be via re-igniting an interest in, and a taste for some of the lost traditional foods. We have a unique opportunity to explore the promise that Africa holds in terms of its edible botanical wealth. Instead of placing the focus solely on genetic engineering as the solution to food security, we should broaden the scope of fighting food security to include researching already available, but largely unknown food plants in Africa. Because some obscure traditional plant might have a genetic composition that is so outstanding that it could well facilitate solutions to some of the the world’s most pressing food issues.

Given even a little attention and support, Africa’s fruits and vegetables could contribute even more towards improved nutrition, increased income for smallholder farmers, and lead to enhanced agricultural productivity and improved agricultural biodiversity.

Kidney is one of the organs that we do not pay much attention to but do we know is a vital organ just like the heart, the brain and the lungs. A heart failure will lead to death and the same thing apply to a kidney failure. Kidney do not just allow us to urinate but cleans our body from toxic substances created by our cells and what we eat.

ኩላሊት ብዙ ትኩረት ያልሰጠነው ዋነኛ የሰውነታችን ክፍል ነው ።እንደ ልብ፣አንጎልና ሳንባ ዋነኛ ከሚባሉ የሰውነታችን ክፍል አንዱ ኩላሊት ነው።ልባችን መስራት ቢያቆም ወደ ሞት እንደሚያመራን ሁሉ የኩላሊትም ስራ ማቆም ወደ ሞት ነው የሚመራን ።የኩላሊት ተግባር ሽንት ማጣራት ብቻ ሳይሆን በሰውነታችን ሴሎች ውስጥና ከምንመገባቸው ምግቦች የሚፈጠሩ እጅግ ጎጂ የሆኑ መርዛማ ነገሮችን ከሰውነታችን ማስወገድ ነው።

Coming to what we eat and drink!!!!!! Have you noticed there is a rise of death caused by kidney failure among the young ones???? Today you hear a 20 year old travelled to India for kidney failure, tomorrow you hear a 30 year old DIED for kidney failure, WHY????

አስተውላችኋል! በኩላሊት ሕመም ምክንያት የወጣቶች ሞት ምን ያህል ከፍ እንዳለ???
ዛሬ የ20 ዓመት ወጣት በኩላሊት ሕመም ምክንያት ወደ ህንድ ሄደ ሲባል ትሰማላችሁ ነገ ደግሞ የ30 ዓመት ወጣት በኩላሊት ሕመም ምክንያት ሞተ ሲባል ታደምጣላችሁ ።ግን ለምን ?

I added some pictures to this post: fanta, coca cola, sprite and all the other drinks (like Pepsi etc) .These are one of the major causes of kidney failure! There are laws in America, Europe, Australia etc that obbligate the companies producing these drinks to keep some substances in it below a certain quantity so that it will not harm the consumers.

ከዚህ ጽሑፍ ጋር ጥቂት ስዕሎችን ማለትም የፋንታ፣የኮካኮላ፣የስፕራይት፣የሌሎችንም ጣፋጭ መጠጦች ፔፕሲንም ጨምሮ ለጥፌያለሁ።እነዚህ ለኩላሊታችን ሥራ ማቆም ምክንያት የሚሆኑ ዋነኛ ነገሮች ናቸው።በአሜሪካ ፣በአውሮፓ እና በአውስትራልያ በእነዚህ መጠጦች ውስጥ የሚጨመረው ንጥረ ነገር በጣም ጥቂት ነው ።ምክንያቱም በእነዚህ ሀገሮች እንዚህን ምርቶች የሚያቀርበው ድርጅት መጠጦቹ በውስጣቸው ያለውን ንጥረ ነገር ከተወሰነው በታች እንዲያደርጉ በሕግ ይገደዳሉ በእዚህም ምክንያት በእነዚህ ሀገራት ያሉ ተጠቃሚዎች ብዙም ተጎጂዎች አይደሉም።

We are talking about substances such as preservatives, colorants, some acids etc. But in AFRICA, some countries do not have restrictions, other have but are not regarded, other allows high quantity of these substances. When I went to Africa I realise the color of Fanta in Africa ( extremely orange) is different from the one in Italy or Germany and the taste too was stronger, more sugar in it! The drinks you are drinking in AFRICA have very high CONTENT OF PRESERVATIVES, COLORANTS, SUGAR AND ACIDS!!!!

አሁን እያወራን ያለነው በመጠጦቹ ውስጥ ስላሉት ንጥረ ነገሮች ማለትም ሳይበላሽ ለማቆየት ስለሚጠቀሙበት ንጥረ ነገር፣ስለ ማቅለሚያው፣ስለ ጥቂት አሲዶችና ስለ ሌሎችም በውስጡ ስለ ሚቀላቅሏቸው ኬሚካሎች ነው።በአፍሪካ በአንዳንድ ሀገሮች እነዚህን ንጥረ ነገሮች በተመለከተ የሕግ ገደብ ጨርሶ የለም፣በአንዳንዳ የአፍሪካ ሀገሮች ደግሞ ሕጉ አለ ነገር ግን ተግባራዊ አይደረግም ፣በአንዳንድ የአፍሪካ ሀገሮች ደግሞ እንደውም አብዝተው እንዲጠቀሙ ይፈቅዳሉ፣ወደ አፍሪካ በሄድኩ ጊዜ እዚያ የሚሸጠውን ፋንታ እና በጣሊያንና በጀርመን ሀገር የሚሸጠውን ፋንታ በመካከላቸው ያለውን ልዩነት ለማወቅ ችያለው አፍሪካ ውስጥ ያለው እጅግ ከለሩ ደማቅ ብርቱካናማ እና በውስጡም ከሚይዘው ከፍተኛ የስኳር መጠን የተነሳ በጣም ጣፋጭ ነው።

አፍሪካ ውስጥ ያሉት መጠጦች በውስጣቸው በጣም ከፍተኛ የሆነ ንጥረ ነገር የያዙ ናቸው።ማለትም ሳይበላሽ ማቆያ፣ማቅለሚያ ፣ስኳርና የተለያዩ አሲዶች በውስጣቸው አለ።

When you drink it your kidney have to despose those substances and because they are NOT GOOD for human consumption in short time they damage the kidney! I do not even drink these drinks in Europe not to talk of the ones in AFRICA, NEVER, I LOVE my health very well. My advice?? STOP drinking them, they have nothing and I mean NOTHING natural, what is Fanta???? what's the main ingredient of Fanta??

ጣፋጭ መጠጦችን በምንጠጣበት ጊዜ ኩላሊታችን በውስጣቸው ያሉትን ጎጂ ንጥረ ነገሮች ለማጣራት ይሞክራል ምክንያቱም ሰውነታችንን እጅግ የሚጎዱ ስለሆኑ፤ ነገር ግን በአጭር ጊዜ ውስጥ እነዚህ ንጥረ ነገሮች ኩላሊታችንን ራሱ ከጥቅም ውጪ ያደርጉታል ።

እኔ በግሌ እነዚህን መጠጦች በአፍሪካም ይሁን በአውሮፓ ፈጽሞ አልጠጣቸውም ።ጤንነቴን በጣም እወደዋለሁ።
ጣፋጭ መጠጦችን መጠጣት አቁሙ ብዬ እመክራችኋለሁ።ምክንያቱም ምንም የላቸውማ ማለትም በውስጣቸው የያዙት ምንም ተፈጥሯዊ ነገር የለም።ለምሳሌ ፋንታ ምንድ ነው? በውስጡ የያዘው ውሕድስ ምንድን ነው?

surely NOT orange juice my sister and brother! WATER is good, perfect for our bodies, organic orange juice is good for our bodies. Also if you can avoid eating canned products my dear do it! You still have the opportunity to eat fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, unprocess food, do it! Buying at the supermaket canned food is not better than buying at the open market from that old woman selling on the raod side, I tell you!

እቶቼና ወንድሞቼ እርግጠኛ ሆኜ የምነግራችሁ ፋንታ ማለት የብርትኳን ጭማቂ አይደለም ።በውስጡ ብዙ ኬሚካል ተጨምሮ የሚሰራ ነው።ሌሎቹም ለስላሳና ጣፋጭ መጠጦች እንዲሁ ናቸው።

ንጹሕ ውሃ በጣም ጥሩ የሆነና ለሰውነታችንም እጅግ ተስማሚ ነው።ተፈጥሯዊ የሆነ የብርትኳን ጭማቂም ለሰውነታችን እጅግ ተስማሚ ነው።

የተከበራችሁ አንባብያን የምትችሉ ከሆነ ማንኛውም የታሸገ ምግብና መጠጥን አስወግዱ/አትጠቀሙ/።ፋብሪካ ውስጥ ገብተው ያልተመረቱ አትክልትና ፍራፍሬዎችን መጠቀም ትችላላችሁ።

እውነቱን ልንገራችሁ ሱፐር ማርኬት ውስጥ ገብቶ የታሸገ ምግብ ከመግዛት ይልቅ መንገድ ዳር ቁጭ ብላ ከምትነግደው አሮጊት መግዛት በጣም ይሻላል።

Those foods are full of CONSERVATIVES, COLORANTS and ACIDS to keep it last longer. How possible that a tomato paste will expire after 2 years?? Can fresh tomato last 2 years?? NO! Then this should make us understand that something was added to that paste to make it last for 2 good years, is that thing healthy for my body?

እነዚያ የታሸጉ ምግብና መጠጦች ረጅም ጊዜ እንዲቆዩ ታስበው በማቆያ ንጥረ ነገር፣በማቅለሚያ ንጥረ ነገር እንዲሁም በአሲዶች የተሞሉ ናቸው።

እስኪ አስቡት የታሸገ ቲማቲም የሚበላሸው ከ 2 ዓመት በኋላ ነው ይላችኋል፤ ቲማቲም ከሁለት ዓመት በኋላ አዲስ ሆኖ ማግኘት ይቻላል?? ፈጽሞ አይሆንም። እንግዲህ አንድ ነገር እንድንረዳ ያደርገናል በታሸገው ቲማቲም ውስጥ ሁለት ዓመት እንዲቆይ የተጨመረ ነገር አለ ማለት ነው። ታዲያ ይሄ ለጤና ተስማሚ ነው ትላላችሁ? ?

Ethiopia is located in the Horn of Africa. It is bordered by Eritrea to the north, Djibouti and Somalia to the east, Sudan and South Sudan to the west, and Kenya to the south. Ethiopia has a high central plateau that varies from 1,290 to 3,000 m (4,232 to 9,843 ft) above sea level, with the highest mountain reaching 4,533 m (14,872 ft).

Elevation is generally highest just before the point of descent to the Great Rift Valley, which splits the plateau diagonally. A number of rivers cross the plateau; notably the Blue Nile rising from Lake Tana. The plateau gradually slopes to the lowlands of the Sudan on the west and the Somali-inhabited plains to the east.
