During this, ritual event of stick fight festival, hundreds of men from nearby villages gather together armed with sticks and ready for battle.

Mazas play a vital role at all Bull jumping ceremonies either in Hamar or Benna tribes, for thus they are always on the constant lookout to attend these ceremonies.
Mazas live on their own until they find a woman to engage, meanwhile surviving only on milk, cattle blood and meat until leaving the group following engagement. anything else if they it will curse and kill.
On a bull jumping in the afternoon, the mazas the boy's age-mates who have already completed the ceremony - take charge to line up the cattle and doing other ritual activities.

Ukuli Bula, (bull Jumping ceremony in Ethiopia’s omo valley) is One of the most important social life activity in every life of Hamer/Hamar and or Banna family. Ukuli Bula, the jumping of the cattle is rite of passage that marks the transition of a boy to a man/adulthood. After jumping the cattle, Hamer men gain respect within the community and are allowed to marry and to carry a weapoon. The ceremony usually takes place anytime between June and January after the harvests. Once the young man has been prepared by his family and age-mates for the ceremony, his closest relatives give him a stick known as boko. Then, a week or more before the ceremony, the young man set out on a journey with boko, visiting both nearby and distant friends and relatives to invite them to the festivities.
The Konso Cultural landscape is one of Ethiopia’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
