Hamar Bull Jumping Ceremony.

It’s a ceremony performed by the Hamer tribe as a rite of passage for young men.

An impressive display of courage, skill, and athleticism, the bull jumping ceremony is a centuries-old rite of passage for young men in Hamer tradition. The Hamar are a tribal community living in the southern part of Ethiopia.
On the day of the ceremony, there is plenty of celebrating. Women dance in traditional dress - playing horns with their legs draped in bells - drinking home-brewed sorghum beer. Depending on the social status of the family, somewhere between 100 and 300 people are likely to attend.

The Suri Tribe are closely related to the Mursi Tribe and they share a similar culture. The Mursi Tribe are in the Lower Omo Valley and the Suri Tribe live in the Upper Omo Valley. Traditionally the women in both of these African tribes wear lip plates.
