Ezana and Saizana later Abrha and Atsbha, were two holy kings for the land of Geez and kings for the kingdom of Axum.

During theire kingtime they built many rock hewn churches.

Traveling from their hometown, Axum, to the east they built one church for the commemoration of their name Abrha and Atsbha.

The church can be accsssed through two roads.

The monastery of Aba penteleaon

Abune penteleaon was one from the nine saints who escaped from the bizantaine empire, crossed the red sea and settled @ the Axumite kingdom.

Thenafter, he moved 5 km to the north east of the holy city of Axum as you see picture below.
