The castle of Gondar

I took the picture at Awash National Park.
Awash Park is located, 216 km from the country's capital, Addis Ababa. It is one of Ethiopia's oldest national parks. The main tourist attractions of the park includes Awash Falls, Filwoha hot springs. Wildlife, etc.
The wildlife includes about 46 species of mammals and 453 species of birds.

The scenic Blue Nile Gorge, Debre Libanos Monastery, and Portuguese bridge.

- The Scenic Blue Nile Gorge is very attractive, and some people compare it with the Grand Canyon of USA.
- DebreLibanos Monastery which is an important monastic center for Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity. The monastery was founded by the renowned 13th century mystic St. Teklehaimanot. Here below from the photos the church is founded during Emperor Haile Sillassie’s reign which is decorated with beautiful religious paintings and window glass works.
- Portuguese bridge is built in the 17th century and nearby it down you can see the Jemma River Gorge. In this area, you will also have a chance to see one of Ethiopia's endemic mammals, the Gelada or bleeding-heart baboon.

MOUNTAIN NYALA are found in Bale Mountains National Park, and they are endemic to Ethiopia.
Bale Mountain is a home for various flora and fauna species.
The male Nyala bulls have fine spiraled horns. Females do not carry horns and they have rather long necks and large ears.

Black-headed Forest Oriole (endemic)

The photo is taken at Wondo Genet, very close to the rooms of Shebele hotel in the car parking area. I was trying to get it many times and this photo is better than the other ones because it flew from tree to tree.

Harar - in the Eastern Ethiopia.

The city of Harar is one of the oldest cities in Ethiopia. Located on the eastern parts of the country and it is UNESCO World Heritage Site, having a very different feel to the rest of Ethiopia.
Harar is known for its famous array of markets, the famous Hyena Men, the fascinating wall which has five gates and artifacts that span the culture.

Konso cultural landscape
==================
Konso cultural landscape has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2011.
In Konso, the stone walled terraces constitute a spectacular example of a living cultural tradition stretching back more than 400 years.
Agriculturally, the terraces use the farmers to conserve soil and water.
In Konso villages are nucleated, walled, dense.
The first two photos show terracing, the third photo shows ceremonial squares in one of the villages in Konso where generation poles are erected and the last photo shows common house for meetings, rituals & for the “safety” during emergencies such as attack or fire.

4 Days Birding Program - Ethiopia

With in this trip, you will see from 145 to 200 different bird species.
Bird Guide: Eyassu Dagnew

Day 01: Addis Ababa – Lake Langano
After breakfast we will drive to Lake Langano, on the way we will have a stop for birding at Koka Dam and Lake Ziway. Some of the birds that you will see are: African Pygmy Goose, Black-billed Wood hoopoe, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Northern Black Tit, Little Weaver, etc.
Overnight in Langano in a resort / in a hotel
Day 02: The whole day at Lake Langano and Abiyata – Shala
After breakfast we will have a full day birding at Lake Langano and Abiyata – Shala National Parks. You will have a chance to see many species of birds such as: Yellow Wagtails, Ibis, Cormorant, Pelicans, Ducks, Egrets, Herons, Flamingos, Storks, Swallows, Chestnut-bellied Sand grouse, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Rollers, Wheatear, African Marsh Harrier, etc.
Overnight Langano in a resort / in a hotel
Day 03: Langano - Awassa
After breakfast we will drive to Awassa and in Hawassa you will visit numerous species of birds: Silvery-Cheeked Hornbill, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Roget’s Rail, Marabou Stork, Black and White Egrets, African Pygmy Goose, Spur-winged Goose, Swallows, Ibis, African Fish Egret, Woodland Kingfisher, Malachite Kingfisher, etc.
Overnight Awasa in a hotel
Day 04: Awassa – Addis Ababa - Departure
Drive back to Addis Ababa with stops for Birding on the way at Debre Zeit. There are lakes and marshy areas with a congregation of birds like African Pygmy Geese, Lesser Jacana, Africa Jacana, White Pelicans, Fish Eagles and Crowned and common cranes. In the evening after dinner, you will be given transfer to airport for departure.

Timkat (Epiphany) in Addis Ababa / January 2023

Timket festival is the greatest festival of Orthodox Christians in Ethiopia. Falling on the 19 of January, it celebrates the baptism of Christ in the river Jordan by John the Baptist. The eve of Timket (18 January) is called Ketera. On this day the Tabots of each church are carried out in procession to a place near a river where the next day's celebration will take place.
The ceremony is accompanied by hymns and dances of the priests, drum beating, bell ringing and blowing of trumpets.
Tabot is a replica of the Arc of the Covenant by which Ten Commandments of Moses are written.
The next day morning (19 January) around dawn ecclesiastics and believers go to the water (river) and attend the praying. A senior priest dips a golden processional cross in the water to bless it and extinguishes a consecrated candle in it. Then the priest sprinkles the water on the people in commemoration of Christ's baptism.
The Tabot is returned to its own church, again accompanied by singing and dancing by priests and believers.
