Finnish Lakeland in general and Lake Saimaa in particular are utterly unique. Lake Saimaa is a labyrinth-like water system with a shoreline of more than 14 500 kilometres (pretty much the same as the distance from Helsinki to Brisbane, Australia). The number of islands is unbelievable 13 700.
