We sign out to create/call in our new album. Some of the songs are already kneaded in like good dough, some are unpolished and left rusty for the muses to come through. Some are love songs to the unharnessed, some are for Charlottesville, some are folk ballads from the land of thunderstorms, some are the blossoms between Burkina Faso and Appalachia. Most were written on napkins on planes, sailboats, or at back alley candlelit bars. Some give us goosebumps. Others are hard to sing.
We don’t have a release date yet, or a well hatched business plan for this new baby, just a whole host of good memories and prayers that these songs will do honest + deep + fruitful work in this world. In order to do this work justice we hear by sign off: over, and out in order to cut out the noise and call in the music. As always, we thank you all for the rowdy, cultivated, communal support throughout the years. We couldn’t do what we do without what you do. •

This song is for the times, for anyone who needs to be reminded of the word resilient right now. Its not about favorable politics. Its not about preaching to the choir. Its written to remind us, first and foremost, that our bodies are resilient. Our families are resilient. Our work is resilient. Our pain and our pasts are resilient, and when we come together honestly and with a sense of willingness to listen, barriers break down across the board.
