He is 1,5 years old reindeer boy Taku. He is studying at our Reindeer Sleigh School and wearing training harness for the first time. Lots of patience, love and positive reinforcement are the keys for success in reindeer training 💖

Training with Mörkö, a three year old (vuorso) sledging reindeer to be. He is super clever and learns amazingly fast. Sometimes I suspect he has a magical skill to read my mind 💖

Reindeer calves are normally born in May.

This little one is born by far too late in autumn, probably in September, and he would not survive in the nature over winter, having only baby fur, meant for summer. He had also lost his mom. So he moved to our horse barn about a week ago.

So far so good. This super cute baby reindeer eats, sleeps, poops, pees, and plays more day by day. One of our tamed reindeers, Vakke, keeps him company as a safe and friendly big brother.

Hopefully he will grow to a big handsome reindeer one day 😍

We explored the ability of reindeer to follow human indications. Reindeer had to refer to the human indications to choose between to buckets, the one from which they would get a food reward. Reindeer showed great performances and appear to be a promising model to continue study deer cognition.

A wedge of sleigh reindeer has landed safely to their work place 🙃

Our sleigh reindeer graze free in the nature during the summer. It is always so heart warming to see them coming back home, not because they have to but because they choose to ❤️
