Free-running is very important for puppies and young dogs. You learn to run by running. In addition, running free develops coordination excellently. It is important to note that free-running is carried out in a fenced, safe area. This week you can follow the activities of Rovaniemi kennel and there the fenced running yard is outside the actual kennel area.

This picture is from last summer, but we have got puppies also in this summer and it is possible to meet puppies, visit the kennel and have a walk with huskies.

Summer is a time of rest for dogs, but it is very important that dogs also get to exercise regularly. In all our kennels, dogs can run freely in a fenced area. Some dogs run non-stop and others like to lay down in peace. Every dog is an individual and should be taken into account in all activities.

This week you get to follow the life of the Kuukkelilampi kennel in Saariselkä and there the dogs also have the opportunity to move around on a walker.

Lapland Husky Safari has four kennels. Every kennel is unique, but we share a common view of dogs´ welfare. We have done our own criteria for welfare and in coming weeks we are going to introduce somethings of dogs´ welfare.

First of all, one of important things of welfare is a place of kennel and how the dogs are living there. Almost all of our dogs are living in the cages. We have got different size of cages and depend of size, there might live only one dog in one cage or maybe even four dogs. When dogs are sharing same cages, it is very important that they get along well.

Kennelarea is cleaned atleast once a day. In some of our kennels cleaning is done by several people first in the morning or in some kennels we have got special person to do cleaning throw the day. Different ways to do things, but the goal is same; clean area for the dogs :)

The beginning of the winter season is just around the corner. In all our kennels, part of the seasonal workers have already started to work and the orientation is going well.

This year winter has come early and we have snow and frost in all locations. In addition to natural snow, cannon snow has been placed on routes and starting places in Saariselkä and Rovaniemi. A sufficient amount of snow is an absolute prerequisite for safe driving. Safety is one of the most important aspects of our operations.

In Luosto and Saariselkä, the winter season starts already next Monday and in all other destinations at the beginning of December. Then we will be ready to offer safe services to all our customers.

The training season has started in very rainy and warm conditions. Hopefully, we will soon have crisp frosty mornings that usualy belong to autumn.

This week we are following the activities of Rovaniemi kennel.

This handsome dog in the picture is Östelä from Rovaniemi kennel. He works mainly in customer service and does not participate fully in autumn training :)

Lapland Husky Safaris Oy is larger than ever before. Arctic-Husky Pyhä-Luosto Oy, Eräsetti Oy (Wild North Huskies) ja Wild Motion Oy have merged to Lapland Husky Safaris in the begin of July. Our responsibility to be a pioneer in the our industry, taking care of the safety, welfare and comfort of dogs, employees and customers will be emphasized more further.

Going forward, we'll be centralizing all social media under one account, so you'll see updates from all four of our kennels on this account. Stay tuned and come to follow us.

And how are we doing right now? The training season has started at all kennels, and the repair work on kennels and trails has mainly been completed. Let autumn cool down!
