It instigated from very humble beginnings from Mrs. Semisi’s residential property where she would sew made-to-measure and developed her specialty in Masi Bridal and Bridal Gowns. Tahroro Investments has been divided according to the different areas of production including machinists, screen printing, graphic design, special projects (which manages fashion shows and other related events) as well as photography, art and design. Presently, Tahroro Investments employs 15 staff members who perform various tasks and have been hand-picked for their ability to multi-task and their individual talents surrounding the arts. Semisi insists on employing especially talented people who would otherwise exist unnoticed. Therefore, most of the 15 employees had no work experience or educational qualifications but were specifically artistic. Accordingly, they have the freedom to create and have done so exceptionally, with 5 boys starting off as screen printers but carried on to establish a label named 2ND CHANCE which won twice in the emerging designers category of Fiji Fashion Week 2009 & 2010. Tahroro Investments has had much involvement in the local fashion industry and one of our recent major projects was the Ministry of Agriculture’s Agriculture Fashion Show which we were hired to construct. Moreover, we designed and produced the Fijian Delegation’s uniforms to the Melanesian Arts Festival 2010. Our made-to-measure client base has increased dramatically in the Company’s short period of existence with Fashion and the Arts. We design and print our own labels and themes and have been featured extensively in the local media. Mrs. Rosie Emberson-Semisi is the company’s Managing Director, Chief In-House Designer and Seamstress. Semisi is of Rotuman heritage and was born and grew up in Fiji. She is the wife of the late Mr. John Semisi and together they have 4 children. Semisi is without question Fiji’s leading Fashion Designer having had some 35 years of experience in Fashion Designing, Tailoring, and Pattern Making. She holds a Certificate in Apparel and Textiles from the University of the South Pacific and also studied Visual Arts and Screen Printing from the Fiji National University. Semisi is a multiple award winning designer who represented Fiji and was part of the Fijian delegation to the Pacific Arts Festival in American Samoa in 2008 and was invited to showcase her collection in New York and the Bahamas. She also accompanied the Fijian delegation to The Dreaming Festival in Brisbane, Australia in 2007. Furthermore, she took part in the Westfield Style Pasifika in Auckland and was announced a finalist in 2 categories in 2007. During the Melanesian Arts Festival in Fiji in 2006, Mrs. Semisi played a major role in the fashion side of things. Semisi also works closely with Tourism Fiji and assisted in promoting their Wedding Packages and their Wedding Road Show. In addition, Mrs. Semisi has close ties with the South African High Commissioner and even constructed a fashion show in 2008 as part of their Freedom Day Celebrations. She was the Fashion Editor for the Sunday Times from 2006 to 2008 and has also been features vigorously in the media.
