Our courtyard has had a little upgrade recently with some comfortable new furniture. Even better for enjoying a relaxing moment at any time of day. Come down here with your coffee in the morning, a book in the afternoon or a glass of wine in the evening. This courtyard is shared between our three apartments and there's plenty of space for everyone.

On the rare occasion when we get a morning off, this is usually what you will find us doing. Having loaded the scooter with coffee and croissants, we will saunter off to a viewpoint around the Luberon. Just to sit, to enjoy the view and our breakfast, and to relax. Sometimes we explore, sometimes we just head back to our favourite spots. Here's Chris, enjoying the views from the top of Menerbes.

Domaine de la Citadelle is a definite must-visit while you are in the Luberon.

First and foremost it is a wine domaine, producing a really delicious range of wines that are available for you to taste (no reservation required). It also has two restaurants, a huge events space, a corkscrew museum and a botanical garden. Our guests are entitled to free entry into the museum and the garden - so why not make an afternoon of it with lunch and wine on the terrace. Enjoy!

This is the bathroom in Apartment One - before and after - a bit of an upgrade!

We didn't have room for a separate bath and shower in here, but we were determined to have both without sacrificing the quality of either. So, we put in a wide bath with a very square end and a proper shower, so that when you shower you don't feel like you are being squashed into the awkward end of the bath. Equally, if you like a bath, you'll find this one is roomy and deep - and we provide bath salts. Enjoy!

Quite an exciting day for Apt last week, as the Olympic Flame was carried right through the town, en route to Paris 2024. A great turnout to see the flame, and lots of fun being had throughout the town all day long. Apt has a direct claim to Olympic Flame, being the birthplace of triple olympic medalist, Michaël Guigou!

The lavender is here! This photo was taken 14th June and the village on the hill in front of you is Saignon, a five minute drive from Apt. I think a lot of potential visitors worry about lavender season being horribly hot and crowded. But I'm here to reassure you that it doesn't need to be! The temperatures have only just tipped over 30°C in the last few days and it is still wonderfully cool morning and evening. This photo was taken around 4pm and there wasn't another soul in sight. There are loads and loads of lavender fields and if you visit before the school holidays start in July it isn't all that crowded. Super easy to find a field to yourself.

So what is stopping you? We have an apartment available 30th June to 4th July (minimum stay three nights), so why not grab a last minute trip to see these amazing purple fields!

It definitely makes us proud when guests say they feel at home in our apartments. With no previous experience in holiday rentals, and no training in design or interiors, we really did renovate and furnish the apartments on our own instincts. We did spend time thinking about what we would like to find in a holiday rental - which is why there are lots of hooks and lots of empty sockets!

The very first time I saw the enormous ceilings at Cent Cinq, with their beautiful beams, I thought that they were crying out for big chandeliers. What started out as two chandeliers quickly turned into a theme throughout the house. After a lot of hunting online, and a lot of driving about to pick them up, we now have a total of eight! None of them are the "candles and crystals" type, as that isn't the right style for this building, but rather they are all in this style of elegant, understated metal work.

We absolutely love finding new places to eat and drink nearby. Our newest discovery is Le domaine d'Egenia. Just a few minutes drive out of Apt, sitting on the edge of a lavender field and with a lovely view of the Luberon hills, here is a place to relax and enjoy. You can order a cocktail, beer or glass of local wine, choose from a selection of tasty platters, or book in for some excellent dining in their restaurant. Open all year and there is a truly excellent team waiting to welcome you. I recommend the Mojito!

If you had told me six years ago that we would be the owners of this magnificent staircase I would have thought you were utterly crazy. This time six years ago we didn't even know that we would be moving to France! But here we are, more than five years into ownership of the house that goes with this beauty of a staircase, and I still frequently shake my head in disbelief that we are here....

Don't worry, our guest apartments are only on the first and second floors. Our apartment is on the third and fourth floors - so you don't have quite as far to climb as we do!!

Did you know that we have a games room for our guests to use? Located underneath the house, there is a pool table, table-football and a dart board. The underground space stays at a steady temperature all year round, so it is just as good for cooling down in summer as it is for escaping a rainy afternoon in winter. Go back in time, where part of the floor is a 1st century Roman mosaic, and the arches above your head are 14th - 16th century.

Lavender season will be here very soon! From late June to the start of August is the most reliable time to find huge fields of vivid purple lavender in and around the Luberon.

The skyline of Apt is dominated by the Cathedral with the impressive gold statue of Saint Anne (who points at my office window at the top of the house!) but what lies beneath the town is just as interesting as what you can see above it. In Roman times, to one side of the Cathedral there was an Amphitheatre and to the other side the Forum. Our building is just 30 metres away, but frustratingly we don't know what it would have been at the time - a house, a shop, a thermal baths - we don't know. But, we are lucky enough to have a Roman mosaic still in place on the floor of the cellar.

Spring is the perfect time for a little refresh of our courtyard garden and window boxes. The colour and the smell was incredible at Appy - our fabulous local garden centre. It made for a very happy shopping trip and everything is looking very lovely now ready for the warmer months ahead.

When friends of our book an apartment and then invite us round, it's always really lovely - both for us to see the apartments in use but also to get real-time feedback. This particular group have been coming to visit for a few years now and some of the things we provide are from their suggestions - beer glasses and picnic sets to name just two.

Last autumn they invited me down on a Saturday afternoon to join in their post-market picnic and I couldn't resist but grab a photo of the dining table groaning with the wonderful food. Three types of baguette, countless types of olive, caper, dip and spread, plus saucisson, fresh local tomatoes, eggs and salad..... it was a long lazy lunch, with the windows wide open and the sound of the market packing up underneath us. We relaxed afterwards on the sofa with a large glass of local rosé and a snooze. Perfect.

If the answer is yes, then you are in luck! This is the view from the master bed of a property we manage in nearby Rustrel. Would you believe it's also the view from the bathtub as well!

It is a beautiful, authentic three bedroom village house with a glorious roof terrace - open all year round (shorter stays available in the quieter months) and in summer there is a village pool just a two minute walk away. Rustrel is the village closest to the Colorado provençal, and it has an excellent bakery with cafe and two more restaurants along with a well stocked local shop and a weekly evening market in summer.

So many of our guests enjoy the proximity of restaurants, cafes and shops. You can pop out for your morning croissant and baguette, grab some fresh salad and cheese to go with it for lunch and then stroll out mid-afternoon for a glass of wine in the square followed by a long dinner in a cozy restaurant. The best bit is no one has to drive!

For the last few years we've been really short of water in the Luberon. But over the last few months the weather has made a very good effort to try and balance things out. We've had a LOT of rain. So hopefully the water levels will be much improved going into summer this year. This is the Cathedral street looking moody in between the rain storms just a few weeks ago.

Roussillon is one of the best known villages of the Luberon - and for good reason - with its dramatic ochre cliffs and stunning views. It is one not to be missed at any time of the year. If you can come when things are a bit quieter, all the better to enjoy the tranquil surroundings. If you're here in August then go either at the start or the end for an early morning stroll and a coffee - or at the end of the day for an evening ice-cream or even dinner on the square - either way you'll be rewarded for your efforts. These views never fail.

Magnum is a fabulous addition to the lovely town of Saint Saturnin lés Apt. We visited last week and found a really great wine list - by the glass, by the bottle and yes by the magnum too! Run by a super friendly team, who have created a lovely atmosphere and it is already a very popular bar. There are sharing platters and nibbles to help soak up the wine too. All delicious and yes, this is a photo of their business card, because I was much too busy enjoying myself to take any actual photos while we were there. Next time!
