What a fabulous day. Started with the local Club de bonne humeur and a buffet/ picnic. More wine than anyone could drink, followed by Rickard, Brandy and something that I could not pronounce, let alone spell - one teaspoon was more than enought - tres fort! Yes, I took it easy as I knew it would be a long day, except on the dance floor. The 'Professor' decided that I was not going to miss a dance. Slung in the deep end by being seperated from my English es**rt and sat on a table with all French speaking people. I think it was fabulous and I learnt a lot and made several new friends. A short break (and a shower - knackered already) and I was picked up by three hot fellows (two French and one English) and taken to the Rock music, fish and chip night in Boussac, with mushy peas. This one organised by the AIPB club. They prepared a brilliant night and they must all be exhausted. Food excellent - even though I was still full from lunch - I managed to eat it all. I did give my gateaux away or I might have popped. Just got home and cuddling the doggy. Bob does not know what he has missed. Hope your day was as successful honey! Thank you to all those that made this day a totally brilliant day. ###

We have had the most fabulous guests for a short stay over Christmas. I do hope they come back again.

17/12/2016

We have had some fabulous weather over the last few weeks. T shirts in the garden. Cold at night but brilliant days. I guess it will not be a white Christmas here this year but perhaps fabulous for the children to play in the garden. So looking forward to it.

We are going to start preparing the pool area tomorrow for our next guests - it has been so very warm recently. Wearing T shirts and still hot. Magpies nesting in the big tree in the corner of our garden. Swallows and house sparrows building nests in and outside of our barns. Lambs bouncing in the field next to our garden. Last year Katie helped Gerard feed them while our neighbouts went on holiday. Spring is so very much happening in our wonderful part of the world.

06/04/2016

Officially spring - Swallows have returned and are being very friendly to each other. Hopefully they will again nest in one of our barns. They keep the bugs off the pool, so we house them and they help us.

Bobby built me a wonderful bird table. It has lots of places to hang all sorts of food. So far we have been lucky enough to have a wild variety of birds visit us: Blue T**s, Great T**s, Chaffinch, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, House Sparrow, Hedge Sparrow, Robin, Sparrow Hawk, Nuthatch, Blackbird, Magpie, Crow, Pidgeon, Dunnet, Wren and Barn Owl. It is costing a fortune but worth every penny. In October and November we saw thousands and thousands of Cranes flying south for the winter - day after day - they were very noisy and magic to watch.

How can it be? I am not saying we are blesses but today was extemely wierd. I popped to our local shop (8 mins away) and had to put the sun viser down. Got my shopping and on the way back had to put on wipers and slowed down to 30 miles per hour as it was snowing. I turned off the main road to our house and had to put the sun viser down - warm and sunny. It has been warm and sunny all afternoon. I think we are bessed.

I do not understand the weather - I have fresh parsley growing, flowers on my geraniams; winter plants are not flowering, but grass needs cutting. Might just open the swimming pool early this year.

15/01/2016

How does it work? Yesterday was Bob's birthday and I made him his favourite - fish pie with mushrooms, leeks, salmon, and parsley sauce - parsley picked fresh from the garden. How can you pick fresh parsley in JanuayToday it is snowing. It is really lovely looking over the valley and watching the birds on the bird house tower Bob built for me. I married a wonderful man. He has a heart of gold. I bought him a pack of six cakes and put a candle in it one of them so that he could make a wish - I am sure it was probably to see all his children again soon ###

My husband Bob has done a wonderful job on clearing the bushes and trees from the bottom of the garden. Sitting on the terrace of the Cottage, you can see across the valley, which is so beautiful. It is not possible to stay here and not have a good time, whether you want peace and quiet or play time - your choice. We can provide either. Contact us and tell us how you would like your holiday to be and we will work around your wises.

Surroundings around swimming pool finished and the French builder done him self proud. Today he started rebuilding the wall and putting in steps in front of the Cottage. I am going to surround the step with flowers and things like lavender to ensure my guests are engulfed in the natural senses of nature while relaxing on their patio. It is going to be so pretty. I am so excited.

19/07/2015

It has been a challenge but challenge completed. The patio around the swimming pool has been completely re-laid. Finished a week late - 10.00 o'clock Thursday night. Which meant I had one and a half days to prepare the pool for my current guests. I could not have done it without my hero of a neighbour Tony. He was wonderful making sure I did everything right. Checking ph/chlorine levels at 7.00 a.m. onwards. The pool was still a little cloudy yesterday but today everything is as pretty as a picture. We have 3 young children visiting and they are loving it. I am one happy bunny. Thank you so much Tony for your help.

I hope I have not caused a problem but I have put you down for English cheddar on the 15th and English sausages on the 16th. Are you up to it Mrs Moss? Ofcourse you are! X Add it to you list honey as it is going to be a great weekend.

Pamela was so welcoming, great facilities and the kids were in heaven with the array of toys, dressing up and games to play with. 'Wilbur' was such a hit, the kids loved saving their leftovers to feed him. We are very much looking forward to our stay in August

We have wonderful guests this week. Mummy, Daddy and two small children age six and three. As they arrived late, Katie and I read the children bedtime stories so parents could finish unpacking and settling in. The children especially love picking fresh strawberries and no time to wash them as they are devoured in seconds. Early this morning the little girl knocked on the gate for me to say that her little brother had fallen and hurt his knee. I asked where Mummy was and apparently she was asleep. I washed my hands very quickly and went to the Cottage equipped with cleaning materials for wounds. Not sure about allergies and seeing the 'wound', microscope necessary, decided that Vaseline should be the 'there, there' cream of the day. Twenty minutes later, chatting to Mummy, the little girl suddenly had a wound so more 'there, there' cream was needed, and then to top it all, the little girl said Mummy had injuries so had to put some on Mummy's arms - oh bless her. They are so so sweet. They have already booked to come back in August. Looking forward to it already.

Summer is so close. We have prepared the pool today, ready for our next visitors. Very excited! Only four days to go! Eggs at the ready for a fabulous Easter.
