Our first really frosty morning with -2 on the thermometer. Saw 3 deer running in the back field (obviously to keep themselves warm🙂). Beautiful, sunny winters day. Just 18 days until it starts to get lighter longer and summer on its way 🤗

We have changed the beds in the twin bedded room.
When we first started the gite, we always imagined the twin room to be for children and the metal beds worked well. However, we are now finding that more adults are booking the gite as a meeting point for friends from different parts of the world and the metal beds were not quite up to the job. So, we have changed over to more sturdy wooden beds to ensure a good nights sleep for our guests.

The gite has been painted, dusted, polished and cleaned within an inch of its life all ready for our first guests of 2023 to arrive.

TOUR DE FRANCE 2023
We have just had some fantastic news from the Mayor -

The Tour de France is coming through Cheissoux. 🚴🏼‍♂️🚴🏽‍♀️🚵🏿‍♂️🚵🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♂️🚴🏽‍♀️🚵🏿‍♂️

We are on the route for the 9th stage of this famous race (9 July) so will have to get out the crochet hook and arty stuff to decorate the front garden. All very exciting stuff 🚴🏽‍♀️🚴🏼‍♂️🚴🏽‍♀️🚴🏼‍♂️🚴🏽‍♀️🚴🏼‍♂️🚴🏽‍♀️

We have had some fantastic weather and things are going well in the garden. Peaches, pears, apples. Cherries, plums, apricots and figs all looking promising so 🤞 we dont get a late frost.
Thought petunias were annuals so really pleased with the display in The large plant pot on the patio which is looking particularly lovely in the morning sunshine. 😄🥰

Had a call of nature in more ways than one 3:30 this morning. I heard a beautiful bird song coming from the old pear tree and thought ‘ its too early for a blackbird’ so you tubed it . This is what I heard - so another bird to add to our list - heard but not seen a nightingale.

Nightingale bird is singing in spring. Birds chirping. The best bird song. Thrush nightingale. Luscinia luscinia. Nature sounds and relaxing.
