Cycle Train Race

Cycle Train Race I'm a road cyclist who lives in France. I compete in about 35-40 races per year. I run affordable training camps in Andalusia Spain every year in Jan/Feb.

I compete in 35-40 races a season (march-oct). I run winter training camps in Andulusia Spain in January and February. These training camps operate on a low cost affordable price to enable more likeminded cyclists to be able to train in the beautiful sunny Andalusian foothills. Camps run from one week to seven weeks in duration. Accommodation:-
We use comfortable two bedroom mobile homes on a pret

ty campsite on the edge of a lake close to all amenities including several restaurants one of which is situated on the campsite and is open morning to late evening every day. Training:-
We normally meet just before 9 for a coffee in the on site cafe to descuss the days ride. We have several courses ranging from easier one and half hour rides to 4 or 5 hour courses with elevations of 2-3 thousand meters! but equally we have courses that follow the flat coast roads. But all of the courses can be ridden once or twice hard or easy depending on fitness levels and what was completed the day before. I normally train on a two day riding one day rest format, or one day riding one day resting. This depends on the intensity of the training and the weather. Weather:-
Normally the temperatures range from 17-20 degrees, with the occasional day at 12-14. Normally the temperatures are pretty much perfect for training. Rain- it doesn't rain oftern. For example I had only one wet ride in seven weeks! This may involve moving the odd ride from morning to afternoon or simply moving a rest day forward or backwards by a day. It can be blustery sometimes but again by moving the training and resting days, this is not normally a problem. Prices:-
Prices vary depending on the number of people sharing a mobile home (1-3 per mobile home) and the duration of your training camp (1-7 week)
But prices start from as little as 125 euros per week per person. For a quote please contact me by email. Equipent:-
You need to bring cycling clothes shoes and a helmet. You can bring your own bike or hire a bike locally.

Well first race of the weekend done. Another course en ligne.
Hard but not quite as hard as last weekend. Didn't know this circuit even though it's only a half hour from my house. So I got a little bit mixed up towards the end thinking there was another 20 km to do. And then in the sprint the guy ahead of me has a teammate to lead him out and unfortunately when he pulled off to the left he came way to far over and blokes me and another guy. So we needed to break slightly then restart our sprint! So I missed out on 3rd by a tyre!
Still that's it I'm in Première cat now.
So tomorrow's easy flat race just got hard.

Post race dinner.
I also had a vegetable protein drink directly after race. And half a banana and another 4 peaches while driving back.
Vegetable chilli with lentils. Tastes much better than it looks. 3 home made whole grain chapitis half a melon and another bloody peach.
Tomorrows food will be pretty much the same as today. Maybe a big salad for dinner instead of the chilli as don't need to stock up for the following day.

Our race started after the GS race finished. At 3:45.
I'm in cat 2. Our peloton set of with the cat 1 boys. This means you've got to live with their attacks until eventually in this case a break of 5 guys formed.
Then you have to stay with the peloton while staying with any cat 1 counter attacks but also watch out for any cat 2 attacks.
Anyway all went well until the last lap when a cat 2 guys attacked about 2-3 kms from the end. I went with him and was surprised to find that it had worked. We pulled out a couple of hundred meters or so. Maybe 300. We were working well together.
I started to think that we were in for a first - second and he obviously was thinking the same. So we worked hard but tried to save a bit for our battle.
But as often happens 100m before the line the peloton caught and out sprinted us!
So probably finished about 10th ish. But had an enjoyable race.
Legs not to tied so hopefully tomorrow will go well.

Today's race at Beyssenac. This is the GS (Grand Sportif) or generally the old boys. Their race ran before ours.

Race day breakfast. 60g porridge oats water soya milk, banana kale and 2 peach smoothie, 3 peaches (only about 195 to go) and as race days are the only day I allow myself real coffee I'm off down to the bar (cafe) for an espresso. Just over 4 hours to lunch!

Great minds think alike.
Wife's just back from work. Stopped on the way back at a road side fruit seller. 4 more melons and another 52 peaches! So dinner tonight was a salad, with a peach cut up on it. Followed by half a melon each and two or three peaches each! Looks like we need to eat 10 peaches a day.
If only she followed my FB page!
