New week and more work ploughing on in the gite .... more studwork and Kev has insulated and boarded what will be a built in wardrobe for bedroom 2.

If we’ve learnt anything so far, it’s that old french houses are bloody freezing and so they need a lot of insulation!!

Before and after photos of what will be the kitchen. Wall down, ceiling down to reveal original oak beams. Work been going on behind the scenes on the electrics too.

Last photo is the latest delivery of 100 lengths of locally sourced timber ready for more renovations 🇫🇷🏔

2nd bedroom timber frame on 1 of its interior walls.

Exterior walls in an old french house are made of thick stone but interior ones are very thin! So we are using acoustic insulation on these walls. 🔨🇫🇷💪🏻🏔🏚 🪵

Destruction day!! 🔨 🧱

This false wall was put up decades ago between our house and the gite to make an inheritance “fair” between 2 brothers! The window you can see was cut in half and one side bricked up!!

Well today it comes down to enlarge the gite kitchen and a stud wall will be created for the new entrance hall and downstairs WC. Exciting times!!! 🤩🇫🇷😍

Moving forward with the downstairs corridor today; insulation complete on the walls and ceiling stud work in progress.
2nd picture is an example of the architectural lighting that will be installed in the gite 🥰🇫🇷💪🏻

Despite it being snowy and cold the work must continue!
A good push again today getting in the studs to accommodate the 100mm insulation to keep our guests toasty warm in the winters ❄️🥰

Ploughing on with the cutting and installing of the insulation in the corridor and both bedroom ensuites.
Stairs being boarded and timber framework created ready for sound insulation board.
Next step..... electrics! 💪🏻🇫🇷🥰

Work still ploughing on despite minus temperatures!

Stud work built and door hung for the staircase down in to the basement - which will house the games room and sauna.

Upstairs a fresh delivery of insulation and work going on to insulate the en-suite bathrooms.
