The Kitchener family bought Domaine Lauroux in 2004 and restored the former estate workers cottage to offer away-from-it-all holidays to families or groups of friends. There are 2 sparkling white shower rooms with lots of storage space. Early in 2011, the kitchen will be enlarged and re-fitted to include a dishwasher and built-in oven and stainless steel hob. There's a sunny dining room overlookin
g the orchard and children's play area, and a separate cosy lounge with UK satellite TV. Two of the bedrooms overlook the orchard at the rear of the house, with the master bedroom looking out across the vines towards the Pyrenees mountains. The 11m x 5m salt-water pool (shared with our family), has a large tiled area equipped with lots of sun loungers and parasols. The pool was specifically designed for children and not-so strong swimmers: it has a shallow edge around the sides and gently slopes to a bowl shape at the deep end. There are always lots of inflatable pool toys for those who want to float and dream the hours away, or even to indulge in pool volleyball. There's lots to do in the Midi Pyrenees region - famous for its wines, Armagnac and everything to do with ducks and geese! During the Spring and Summer months, there's a fete being held in one of the neighbouring villages - allowing guests to experience a true slice of rural French life - boules, moules frites and fishing competitions!
