House is a traditional provencal bastidon (terraced property) within a small holdiay hamlet. Property is a two bedroomed house, that sleeps 6 people - plus 2 younger children (cot-bed & trundle bed). Outdoor dining terrace & courtyard garden area. Property is well equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, highchair, etc. Property is located within a small village alongside similar prop
erties. Within the village visitors have shared access to a large recently renovated swimming pool, boules court, children's play area, volleyball court & community centre with books & games to borrow. Hameau de la Garrigue is located at the edge of the Baronnies in Northern Provence and has stunning views across to the summit of Mont Ventoux - made famous by the Tour de France. It is easily accessible by car from Marseille, Nimes Lyon & Avignon airports. (Geneva & Nice are also options - albeing journey time is longer). Local activities include cycling - including up the Ventoux, horse riding, gorge walking up the Toulenranc valley & hill-walking in the Dentelles. The area is famous for its wine - with Gigondas, Seguret & Chateaneuf du Pape all within easy reach. Most local towns have weekly markets which allows visitors to stock up on the local specialities of cheese, wine, honey & the amazing fresh fruit & vegetables.
It’s been a while since we posted on here. We finally managed to visit Provence after a 3 year absence. 😁 🍷 🧀 🤩 🎉 🍷 🥰
Whilst we were there, we had fun styling up a few parts of the house. We also did some prep for the forthcoming bathroom renovation later this year.
We hope our Summer 2022 guests have great, fun and relaxing breaks at our home from home.
So we were very pleased to hear today that France has been added to the list of ‘safe’ destinations from Scotland - with no quarantine required in either direction. 🎉
Our little home is in the Vaucluse region which has seen very little impact from Covid-19 throughout the crisis. New daily cases are in single figures across the whole region. The Vaucluse has been a ‘Green’ region by the French government’s classification for quite some time now.
Shops, bars, cafes, markets and restaurants are open with all the appropriate hygiene measures. Mostly though we like to just spend our evenings on our own terrace gazing at Mont Ventoux with a nice glass of wine and a home cooked meal.
With the Tour de France visiting the area in early September, the flights to France being very reasonable and the weather usually warm and dry - is this the time to visit la belle Provence? 🇫🇷 🍷 🥘 🚲 🇫🇷

Once the snow thaws in April, the Col of the (in)famous Mont Ventoux opens again! This is an ideal time to tackle this hors categorie climb (that features regularly on the Tour de France) before the hot summer days kick in!

Five minutes drive (or a 20 min run downhill) from the bastidon you will find the Touleranc Gorge. A scramble / swim up the gorge is always a highlight of our time here - such a great way to spend time with nature whilst keeping cool.

So for anyone fancying the ultimate road cycling adventure, le Mont Ventoux is on our doorstep. 24 years after first coming here, and after numerous trips up here - we finally made the summit by bike! Very challenging, but such an achievement!
Now it’s time to have a wee drink with a view across to where we were just a few hours ago!
I’ll never tire of this view!

The route for the 2019 Tour de France was announced in Paris this morning.
Stage 17 sees Le Tour pass very close to the village on the 24th July - en route from Pont du Gard to Gap!
Perfect timing for any cycling fans to combine a trip to this famous cycling region, climb the famous Mont Ventoux and catch the Tour whizz by! 🇫🇷 🚲 🇫🇷
