On this Global Indigenous Day, let us stand in reverence of the first guardians of this land, Malaysia's Indigenous peoples. Their deep connection to nature, rich traditions, and enduring spirit are the bedrock of our nation's heritage.

As we progress, may we continue to uphold the values they have imparted, ensuring the preservation and flourishing of their traditions.

Let us celebrate not only the past but also the enduring contributions to our collective future of 🇲🇾.

Let’s flood your greetings below👇

In Malaysia, the celebration of Deepavali is not only confined to the homes of those celebrating it.

The festive mood is apparent in shopping malls, where the store premises are also decorated with bright colors and lights.

Another must-have feature of Deepavali is the decoration of the kolam. Kolam is a form of decoration or design that is made using chalk powder or rice flour to produce geometric designs including curved loops, dots or symmetrical patterns.

Some families usually perform prayer rituals and visit temples to offer their prayers. Some also took the opportunity to visit relatives and close friends. And where the gatherings are, you can always expect great food!

One thing that is synonymous with Deepavali that is a staple in Hindu homes during this season has to be murukku, the crunchy and salty snack. Derived from Tamil, the word means “twisted,” which perfectly describes its coiled, twisted shape.

Wat Machimmaram is an impressive Thai Buddhist Temple with a giant sitting Buddha statue located in the Tumpat district of Kelantan, about 20 km from Kota Bharu.

Tumpat is the northernmost part of Kelantan and borders Thailand so it is not surprising that there is an ethnic Thai community here.
