🇳🇿 We have a roof! Now that our busy summer season has come to end, we decided to add to our gîte La Châtaigne garden terrace by roofing our existing pergola. I think it’s turned out great and not only will it help provide shade in summer but also a dry outdoor space for when we experience those slightly rainy days. 🇫🇷 Nous avons un toit! Notre saison estivale est terminée, nous avons décidé d'ajouter à notre gîte La Châtaigne la terrasse de jardin en tapant notre pergola existante. Je pense que cela s'est avéré génial et non seulement cela aidera à fournir de l'ombre en été, mais aussi un espace extérieur sec pour quand nous vivons ces jours légèrement pluvieux.

🇫🇷 Notre appartement Le Tilleul est terminé. Je ne sais pas ce que nous allons en faire, peut-être un endroit pour rendre visite à la famille et aux amis, mais cela fait du bien d'avoir une autre partie de la propriété terminée. 🇳🇿Our apartment Le Tilleul is finished and furnished. Not sure what we’re going to do with it other than a place for visiting family and friends but it feels good to have another part of the property completed.

We’ll be on channel 4’s A New Life in the Sun, Where are they now episodes on the 7th March at 4pm. 🇫🇷 Au cas où vous ne le sauriez pas, nous sommes un gros problème… 🤣🤣. Toutes blagues, nous serons sur A New Life in the Sun de Channel 4, où sont-ils maintenant des épisodes le 7 mars à 16h (heure du Royaume-Uni).

What’s going on here cheeky fella?!… A little throwback to when Lee was cleaning out the old bread oven. A very bizarre thing to walk in on I have to say 🤣 haha! 🇫🇷 Que se passe-t-il ici, mec?!… Un petit retour en arrière lorsque Lee nettoyait le vieux four à pain. Une chose très bizarre à entrer et à voir, je dois dire 🤣 haha!

We made a thing! We’ve had a little break from social media but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy. La Pêche is the new addition to our gîte family. It was formally a bread oven and pigsty to our home which we’ve lovingly converted into a one bedroom gîte. 🇫🇷 Nous avons fait un truc! Nous avons eu une petite pause dans les médias sociaux, mais cela ne signifie pas que nous n'avons pas été occupés. La Pêche est la nouvel ajout à notre famille des gîtes. C'était autrefois un four à pain et une porcherie dans notre maison que nous avons transformée avec amour en un gîte d'une chambre.

We’ve been a little busy refurbishing our apartment over the past 5 weeks. New electrics, plumbing, heating, plaster, painting you name it it’s been done. It was literally down to the wire before our tenant moved in. I didn’t even have time to take a photo of the final product with all the finishing touches and appliances but we’re super happy with how it turned out. Swipe to see before images.

I’m going to take the opportunity to share some of the photos we had commissioned last week. Today I’m posting photos of the kitchen in our gîte La Châtaigne. The kitchen is fully equipped and made of solid oak in the shaker style with black granite worktops.

A little project I’ve been doing is signage for the gîtes and around the property. I’m so happy with how they’ve turned out on the reclaimed wood found in our barn. A big thank you must be given to Nicole for doing such a great job on the lettering.

A few more jobs completed off the list. We painted the front of our two bed gîte La Châtaigne and the pergola ready for summer. And I made a few repairs to the barn door before painting them 👩🏻‍🎨

🇳🇿Wow what a year 2023 has been. A small video recap. We’ve had snow, visited a few new places, ate at some amazing restaurants, completed multiple renovation jobs on the property, had a successful season, met some incredible people and made more jam than we know what to do with etc. We want to wish everyone a very happy new year and hope your 2024 is filled with love and laughter!❤️🎊 🇫🇷Wow quelle année 2023 a été. Un petit récapitulatif vidéo.
