Our La Vieille Ferme

La Vieille Ferme— is our 15th Century holiday home and little piece of paradise in the quiet hamlet of Bors near Pressignac in the Charente. As a family, we had enjoyed many holidays in France and each time would say, ‘One day we’re going to buy a house here’. In 2015, during another family holiday we said it again, only this time our daughter said, ‘Stop saying it and get looking,’ and with that handed us the estate agents brochure we’d picked up the day before. Within an hour we had arranged 3 viewings and so the search began. Over the next week we saw some ‘interesting’ properties, but definitely not ‘The One’. Once back home in the UK we started trawling the internet and by October when we were returning to France, had a string of houses to view. Sadly, as is often the case, the estate agents description and the reality bore little resemblance, so as we approached our final viewing we were prepared to be disappointed again. How wrong we were! As soon as we walked into the house we both knew this was ‘The One’ and so began our adventure and in 2016 we became the proud owners of La Vieille Ferme.
