Today has been lovely, we took time out to visit our beautiful area. Saint-Léonard-des-Bois vide-grenier and artisan market, it’s only 15 minutes away and such a beautiful village. We are so fortunate being on the Mayenne/Sarthe border.

What a fabulous few days we’ve had. First I visited with friends, Wow the work they’re doing is amazing, and we got to meet Ted & Lesa from what a lovely couple.
Then a day with friends celebrating Bastille day 🎉 loving life xx

Early morning job fitting the DIY fly screen to the bathroom window before guests arrive today. Needs to be done early before Graeme starts his day job!

Far too hot today 30 degrees! to be tackling brambles and nettles, but with guests arriving tomorrow and we’re then full till September it had to be done 🥵 We’ve gained 3 foot of garden just need to keep it back!

It was an absolute pleasure having these guys stay last weekend, you can guess by the gorgeous car the reason for their stay. They really enjoyed their stay and said the photographs of the gite don’t do it justice, how lovely.

Busy day continuing to improve the gardens, new bushes planted surrounded in reclaimed metal rings and covered in wood chip. Lovely lawn for guests to have a wander around.

Busy weekend, absolutely shattered now but feeling accomplished. Fascia boards painted, drive weeded and gravel moved, today we got the gate posts in place ready for our new gate, so excited.

We’ve spent 3 hours today starting to clear the banks of the stream. They were covered in brambles, hawthorn saplings, grass etc!! So much debris had collected in the stream it had created dams!! We’re really happy with progress so far, only another 100m to go 😳 Maccine Hall Graeme Hall

It’s 1 year today since we bought our beautiful home in France and opened Guimondière in April to guests. We had the pleasure of hosting our amazing guests last year and are looking forward to meeting lots more this year.

We’ve just watched the 3rd episode of A New Life In The Sun and exhausted just remembering the work involved in opening 🤣 loving being part of it and we hope you’re enjoying watching the ongoing progress of Guimondiere xx

Last night saw us on Channel 4, A New Life in the Sun, we were so nervous about seeing and hearing ourselves on TV but luckily it wasn’t as bad as we thought, in fact we had a good laugh. It was a great reminder of the start of our journey, we’re actually looking forward to see what else they show.
