💥 “So let’s dive into this 2017 L’Épée”

🌈 We are very honoured and delighted to be the subject of a deep dive from Allison as she tastes our Épée 2017. To say she knows her stuff is an understatement!

🍷 We personally feel that the wine industry is at a crossroads: more and more people are choosing to give up wine and small growers are facing more and more challenges (environmentally, administratively, etc). It has never been more difficult to make wine and sell wine than in this day and age. Unfortunately, with climate change, we are expecting it will only get more challenging.

⭐️ So we can say without hesitation that listening to Allison’s deep dive was actually so heartwarming. Allison takes the time to know the place, the history, the terroir, the grapes, the wines, the people. She is like a terroir detective and we know her happy place is with a winegrower, the vines, and a shovel! She pieces together knowledge and communicates it in such a vibrant and enthusiastic way.

💕 She has been driven by this beautiful project, Cab Franc Chronicles, out of a love for a grape. Even when a year is difficult, she can see the labour and the potential of the juice behind the bottle.

🍇 On behalf of all small growers, thank you Allison for being a real champion for Cabernet Franc and Loire Valley wines!!

Comme l’année dernière nous avons le plaisir de vous faire de la tenue de nos Portes Ouvertes les 7 et 8 Décembre !

Pour la première fois cette année, nous avons le plaisir d’accueillir les Etats d’arts de Brice Auconie !
Artiste joailler et scénographe, Il a invité des artistes de Touraine à venir présenter leurs oeuvres !!

Le Château du Petit Thouars est dans notre famille depuis 1636. Depuis 2016 nous sommes en AOC Chinon et nous sommes certifiés BIO sur l’ensemble du domaine depuis 2022. Ce sera l’occasion pour certains de découvrir nos Cabernet Franc et nos deux parcelles de Chenin Blanc

Les artisans qui seront représentés partagent aussi cette exigence de qualité et de respect de l’environnement.
Les huiles d’olive Poggiolecci sont des huiles BIO produites en Toscane.
Scott Medley est un champion de France de barbecue installé avec sa famille à Marigny-Marmande, il construit lui-même ses barbecues qu’il alimente avec des bûche de chênes truffier, d’où le nom de Au Feu de Truffier. Tout est fait maison et préparé à la commande.
Natalya de My Secret Confections est une chef pâtissière américaine.
Il y aura aussi les délicieux fromages de chèvre de la Boutinière à Seuilly.

How exciting to have now two Chenin Blanc Cuvées available!!!
Harvested for the first time last year, Les Plantes strive on a beautiful clay and limestone 2Ha terroir next to our Cabernet Franc.
Planted 10 years before, Le Clos was just bottled a month ago and is now ready to partyyyy!
Two beautiful 100% organic expressions of Chenin Blanc on the left bank of the Vienne!

Aidas and Alexandra who booked our Market Experience visit this week, visiting a local market with Sébastien, choosing delicious seasonal produce, visiting the domain, wine tasting while cooking and lunch in the dining room of the château. This experience is so much fun to share!!

They’re also modelling and received our new Château du Petit Thouars aprons! Available now 🤩

Last night was a bit cool so I felt like making a proper Hachis Parmentier (different from the shepherd’s pie).
I love it, the family loves it and with some Les Georges it’s a winning combo !

Chenin hand harvest is now complete! Lovely juices -Les Plantes tastes like rhubarb, yum, Le Clos elegant and long as ever. We are also grateful to have slightly higher yields than last year, exciting!

Our office lock that was forced and broken in the early hours by thieves. Turns out they had a crime spree last night targeting us and other WINEMAKERS!!! What are they, teetotal terrorists?!? 🤪
Their goal was cash. Luckily we always deposit cash in Chinon at the end of the day. They didn’t get more than 200 euros. Some winemakers were not so lucky!

Those clouds in the horizon aren’t going to scare us! We have our new table and chairs in place for a couple who will be having their picnic at the tower of the château!! ☀️😎☀️😎

Meanwhile, at the vineyard the crew has been busy pruning and also planting trees! As part of our endeavour to improve our ecosystem we have planted 50 trees including almond trees, pear trees apple trees along 40 year-old plots as well as plots that will be planted in 2025. This come after the plantation of the edge along our biggest plot of Cabernet Franc.
This is another step to help even further
