Elis ruins are on the side of the road, no ticket, no gates, no guard. This unbelievable archeologic site, size of a village, is open to anyone, at anytime.

Cycling through antic greek ruins is a luxury and the price is a puncture.

The archeoloogists are still excavating here and a big part of the city is still burried under the soil.

First steps in Greece after hours sailing the Ionoan sea.

Seeing Ithaca from the ship reminds me we are cruising in the same water as Melisegen (later called Homer) and it's character Odysseus 3 thoursands years ago. Arriving to Greece by the sea, is full of sense!

Passing through the modern city of Patra to cycle the 50 kms that separates it from the ancient capital of Archaia region : Elis. An important city in the ancient greece as their citizens were responsible for the organisation of the olympic games. The games were taking place in the sanctuary of Olympia, some 50 kms away, during 800 years. But this is tomorow's destination !
