Well it's really almost a cliché - Paris as a city of love. And a city of art.

Indeed French capital has been a background for numerous love stories and romances also among great artists. In our 3rd episode we're confronting two inspiring art couples that were shining in Paris, especially in the first half of 20th century - meet Gertrude Stein & Alice B. Toklas and Sophie Taeuber-Arp & Jean Arp. May love and avant-garde be with you!

Galerie Vivienne is one of the most beautiful covered passages in Paris. Most of the shops are quite expensive, but you can find an old book store that we love, which is *very* afordable. And if not for shopping, it is just a nice cozy walk on a rainy day.

Jean Béraud (French: [beʁo]; January 12, 1849 – October 4, 1935) was a French painter, noted for his paintings of Parisian life during the Belle Époque. He was renowned in Paris society due to his numerous paintings depicting the life of Paris, and the nightlife of Paris society. He also painted religious subjects in a contemporary setting. Pictures of the Champs Elysees, cafeés, Montmartre and the banks of the Seine are precisely detailed illustrations of everyday Parisian era of the "Belle Époque".

*****

Pretty incredible story...

"Believe it or not, in 1976 Pharaoh Ramses II was issued an Egyptian passport for passage to France nearly three millennia after his death."

Ramses II, despite being a 3,000-year-old Pharaoh of Egypt had to submit to modern laws and get a passport for a trip to Paris.

I've met Oliver few years back when he invited me to his walkshow. It was a great experience, although I remember being extremely stressed, as it was the first event I ever participated that went LIVE! So maybe don't watch mine ;)

But I am so happy to get to know him and his work, he gets just the best ideas for his virtual podcasts. Yesterday night he invited Ernest Hemingway (yes, this Hemingway) to have a walkshow with him. What a blast! Check it out, and if you don't follow The Earful Tower yet, I suggest you do!

As I had a chance to participate myself, I know how hard it might be, so I really admire both men on the excellent job they've made here.

It was truly magic.

Join us tomorrow for virtual conference with doctor in Art History.

"A condensed pill of facts about the epidemics throughout history that became especially visible in art. This dish consists of a pinch of history of medicine with a good dose of art.
The tragedies of plagues such as Black Death and AIDS marked art history in remarkable ways. A coronavirus pandemic seems to be the very best moment to learn more how humanity was dealing with other epidemics. "
