The townhouse in Beaumont-du-Perigord is ready to welcome the first guests in summer 2021! Very excited to post the new pictures of it sometime next week. While refurbishing my house I was buying old furniture attempting to give more character to the house. And I was immensely enjoying painting the furniture giving it a fresh look keeping an airy, light and bright atmosphere in the house. Here is the little entrance seat receiving new attire. Back from Portugal finding my French house in complete mess. My English builder Neil Allcorn has gone and emailed me that he is not coming back. After receiving the most of money for unfinished job.

Beaumont-du-Perigord is one of the best-preserved and largest bastides in the Perigord region. Nestled in southwest France the Dordogne department is named after the River Dordogne, which sneaks across the stunning landscape. The area is a very attractive holiday destination thanks to the beautiful nature and pleasant climate through the year. It might be for that reason a prehistoric man caved in the area. King Edward I of England founded Beaumont du Perigord in 1272. The bastide has undergone significant transformation down through the centuries. It has preserved a myriad of outstanding heritage treasures that will take you back in time to the Middle Ages.

There were 4 bedrooms and a WC upstairs but no bathroom. I've decided to sacrifice one of the bedrooms for a bathroom. I was happy to do the painting and wallpapering myself. And it is ready!

Great potential!!!

With those poky, awkward spaces it was not easy to imagine the house being transformed into a pleasant living space. The local agent from NDC Marie kindly gave me the keys and I went to the house (8 times) and set there to see if the house felt right for me to even consider buying it. But the size is decent, 120 sq m in two floors; the price is attractive and the garden is a bonus. The townhouse with a garden is very rare when it is 200 m from the center of the 12 century Bastide. And the French shutters!!! My dream. I want to create a luxury holiday home preserving the French character. There is plenty of character, but luxury? Can you imagine it looking at those pictures?

Being in rental business for over 15 years I always wanted to have my own project. Loving the French countryside, nature, food and wine I set off looking for a house to renovate. Searching for one close to the riverside with walking and cycling tracks, for weeks I was driving around and liked many places. However some of them I found too touristy, others too quiet. One sunny day I ended up in the square of one of the most picturesque bastides of the Dordogne region Beaumont-du-Perigord. It was love at first sight. Having my coffee in the square surrounded by the original medieval buildings above stone arcaded passages and watching the sunrays with a myriad of sparkles reflecting from the 800 old town walls, listening to the bell of the St. Front Church, I felt like I wanted to stay there forever. A few months later I’ve bought a 100 years old townhouse. The house was in a good shape but badly designed, grim and neglected. And that was what I wanted: to put my own stamp and create a house I envisioned. I got to know some friendly locals (English and French) to get advise and have undertaken the renovation project.
