Being in rental business for over 15 years I always wanted to have my own project. Loving the French countryside, nature, food and wine I set off looking for a house to renovate. Searching for one close to the riverside with walking and cycling tracks, for weeks I was driving around and liked many places. However some of them I found too touristy, others too quiet. One sunny day I ended up in the square of one of the most picturesque bastides of the Dordogne region Beaumont-du-Perigord. It was love at first sight. Having my coffee in the square surrounded by the original medieval buildings above stone arcaded passages and watching the sunrays with a myriad of sparkles reflecting from the 800 old town walls, listening to the bell of the St. Front Church, I felt like I wanted to stay there forever. A few months later I’ve bought a 100 years old townhouse. The house was in a good shape but badly designed, grim and neglected. And that was what I wanted: to put my own stamp and create a house I envisioned. I got to know some friendly locals (English and French) to get advise and have undertaken the renovation project.
