This week marked the first anniversary of the first lockdown in France. One year one, and although we are no longer in lockdown, our right of movement and other restrictions are in place, and the future is still very unclear.
Like many people, I have found this ongoing situation very challenging. However, spring is here and I am filled with a new sense of hope. A first post after a long absence is always a difficult one, but I’ve chosen this image as I feel it sums up the innocence of childhood and it always makes me smile.
Unfortunately I do not know who took the photo or I would of course credit them.

We couldn't resist passing this fun activity on to you - the children will love it! In wintry temperatures, fill balloons with water and food colouring. When the water has frozen, remove the balloon and you have giant marbles! (from homesteadsurvival.com)

À petit update from our corner of France, where we have been in hibernation for the last few moths. We are all busy putting the final touches to our winter renovations, and really looking forward to welcoming our lovely guests in the coming months.
Pepito the Donkey, à popular resident at 4 rue de la Dive, has temporarily moved into winter quarters just down the lane - an ideal spot for him - he loves cattle, and there is a herd of beautiful Normandy cows just next door!

It’s the 1st of May - in France we offer little sprigs of Lily of the Valley to friends and neighbours for good luck.
My mother had this beautiful and fragrant flower as her wedding bouquet, and I have often wondered how she found Lily of the Valley in November in 1960s Scotland!
