Finally!! From tomorrow the travel restrictions to enter France from the UK will be lifted for vaccinated travellers. You will still require a PCR or Antigen test within 24 hours of arrival. UK Gov website has not been updated at the time of this post, however, the French Gov site below has details (in French).

Dear Clients,

Due to the recent travel restrictions regarding the Omicron variant, there has been some mixed information given in the UK, from both official and non-official sources, regarding access to GVA and transiting onwards to France. Please find below the latest update from the Swiss authorities website. The UK is currently considered a third country and is on the High-Risk list and France is classed as a Schengen state. The basic outline is if you are travelling from the UK you can transit through Switzerland if you are vaccinated without a requirement for a PCR test or quarantine.

Transit from a third country considered by the SEM to be high-risk to a Schengen state:

It is only possible to enter Switzerland from a high-risk country in order to travel on to another Schengen state for a short stay of up to 90 days if you can prove that you have been vaccinated (see “How can I prove that I am vaccinated?”). Persons under 18 may enter Switzerland if they are travelling with an adult who has been vaccinated.
Otherwise, the normal requirements for entering Switzerland apply.

Are you staying in Switzerland for fewer than four days? Then you don’t need to take a second test and only need to show a negative test result when entering the country.

The following individuals are exempt from the obligation to be tested on entering and 4-7 days after entering:

• People who are younger than 16 years;

• People transiting through Switzerland without a stopover;

• People travelling into Switzerland from areas bordering the country with which there are close economic, social or cultural ties. The following countries, areas and regions are considered “border areas”:

- Regions in France: Region of Grand-Est, Region of Burgundy / Franche Comté, Region of Auvergne / Rhône-Alpes

We have also confirmed this by telephone today with the FOPH and the basic outline is as I stated above, if you are arriving at GVA and are fully vaccinated you can transit through Switzerland by road into France. No test required and no quarantine.
