Dear friends and followers,
A brief note to inform you that I'll be retired as of tomorrow, June 28.

But have no fear, Kate Schwab will be holding down the fort and will soon take over with her own Facebook, including France Tourism PR.

It has been a great pleasure working with you, the press and other friends & follower, and our French partners these last 30 or so years—19 of which as director of communications.

Having been raised in the U.S. it was wonderful and at times challenging to try and be a bridge between our two cultures.

It's been fun. Marion.

A little & yummy follow-up on Lyon.

Lyon is a born-and-bred gourmand and deciding where to dine in the city that has been lorded as France’s gastronomic capital for decades can be challenging. Be it earthy street market or food truck, on-trend millennial neo-bistro or Michelin-starred haute-cuisine restaurant, the choice is rich. Al...

When you get to know Lyon, it easily becomes one of your favorite cities in France.

That Lyon is a sterling choice for bon vivants becomes evident within seconds of tucking into coq au vin in a jam-packed bistro, admiring fine art in a Renaissance abbey, or getting deliciously lost in a traboule (secret passageway) used by 19th-century silk weavers. It's a enthralling, richly stori...

Right about the 60th anniversary of D-Day met a Ranger who had scaled the Pointe du Hoc and he told me that he came most years to Normandy for the commemorations. What struck him most, apart from being celebrated by the local population, is that even small children knew what he and other veterans had done on June 6, 1944 and came up to him to thank him. Here are some more D-Day stories.

Some aging residents of Ste.-Mère-Église in Normandy can still recall the American paratroopers who dropped into their backyard. It’s been a love affair ever since.

What are the incredible facts and figures of this historic undertaking that was D-Day.

The June 6, 1944, D-Day invasion of Nazi-occupied France was unprecedented in scale and audacity, using the largest-ever armada of ships, troops, planes and vehicles to punch a hole in Adolf Hitler’s defenses in western Europe and change the course of World War II.

Tomorrow is the 80th anniversary of D-Day, a day to commemorate the fallen Allied soldiers and to honor veterans, past and present.

It is 80 years since the Allied invasion of Normandy, and the average age of veterans hovers at 100. Once they are gone, how will their sacrifices be remembered?
