“A few days ago, SH Diana made history by spotting, for the very first time, a group of juvenile emperor penguins near Snow Hill in the Weddell Sea!

We were the only ship in the area and felt incredibly fortunate to encounter these young emperors. While we knew a colony existed nearby, witnessing these magnificent creatures firsthand was truly breathtaking. Unlike brush-tailed Antarctic penguins, emperor penguins breed during the harsh Antarctic winter, typically between late July and early August.

We were incredibly lucky to see these juveniles drifting on the fast ice around us, preparing for their first year in Antarctica.”
