We often get asked if the cottage garden is secure and fully enclosed.
Well, it is completely surrounded, on 3 sides by thick hedges (reinforced by wire stock netting) which are around 2 meters high. To the front is a wall and a strong wooden fence, topped with wooden trellis which is around 1.5m tall. The low point is the front gate, but if you wish, we have a piece of trellis that slots in above that to increase the height.

The committee des fêtes in Chateaumeillant works very hard throughout the year, the celebrations and fireworks for the 14th July, the Fête des Grattons on the weekend of the 1st Sunday un September and the Christmas celebrations are the most well known, but this is a new venture!

"And if Châteaumeillant told me" is a historical, voluntary show that aims to showcase the history of ChâteaumeILLant and the Berry.
Young and old, with your family, you are all welcome to participate in this wonderful project led, in particular, by the parish of Châteaumeillant and with the support of the town hall.

This show will take place on Thursday, May 1st at 20h, in front of the church.

Have you ever been to a brocante or vide grenier? The place to find just about anything!
Some are small, local affairs with a few dozen stalls. Others take over the whole village with hundreds of stalls, often with the local band playing, a display of folk dancers or vintage vehicles.
There is always a bar and food available, which varies from sausages with chips to the delicious Lebanese street food we enjoyed last year in La Châtre.

After the storms of the last few weeks, the pergola was looking very sorry for itself! Steve has been busy (with Nena’s help!) rebuilding it.
Replacing timbers, refastening the trellis and the plants and putting on a rainproof roof.

This is a beautiful place for a walk- in the heat of summer it is cool and green, in the autumn the colour of the leaves is beautiful and the floor is covered in sweet chestnuts.

These Yorkshire tykes look like they have had a good holiday! But don't take my word for it, here's what their owners said!

We had a fantastic week at Les Rossignols. Stephen and Sarah are lovely people, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable - nothing is too much trouble. The house and garden are fantastic and they have done a brilliant job with both. The house is a good size with everything that you need, the kitchen and lounge areas are lovely, very comfortable and very well kitted out, and the bedrooms are a great size too. One of the key things for us is always the mattress because so many holiday lets don't use a quality mattress - that's definitely not the case in the main bedroom here and its those extra little touches that can make a difference.

The weather was thankfully excellent considering we were there in late October, 24 degrees some days, amazing! The local area is lovely, we visited some outstanding Chateaux and beautiful old churches. When I say old, the local church in Saint Jeanvrin was built in 1116!!! And dont miss the Roman Amphitheatre in Drevant which is about 30-40 mins from the house, it really is wonderful.

The garden is very dog friendly and fully fenced so our labs and spaniels had a great time, plenty of walks on the doorstep too. Its a lovely rural area but with enough villages and towns close by, you can also venture further afield to Bourges, Chateauroux etc if you want to. The vet in Chateaumeillant was excellent, very friendly and helpful (as they always are throughout France in our experience), we just literally cant fault anything. We were also lucky enough to visit a local Brocante which was a real experience, if you get chance, make sure you go!

All in all, a fantastic week"
