Golden flecks of Autumn 🍂✨ through silver skies brings an enchanting light
Come rain or shine, Autumn has always been my favourite season of them all, jewelled with colours, morning mists, cosy fires and ruby sunsets peeping through silvered skies. This is the season when we’ll gather around the fireplace with good friends and good wine 🍷, listening to the softly falling rain outside and sharing stories of passing ghosts.

P e e p i n g b e a u t y ✨

The view through the door from the spiral stairs, which was once the service staircase, takes us into the original library 📚. This light and airy green panelled room was transformed into a dining room a few decades ago and now houses the original grand table that can sit 20 people with a continued nod to its initial purpose with antique books still at home here. It is always a pleasure to dine here with our family and friends and to host intimate weddings and rehearsal dinners that fill this charming room with fun and laughter. ✨🥂

The view from above always has the power to take my breath away. Hidden within its own rolling park and edged by the verdure of its forest, this fairytale castle sits in on its own island surrounded by a medieval moat. Friday evening welcome dinners at the romantic ruined orangery are the perfect convivial way to welcome family and friends to for the beginning of the wedding weekend. Local cheese 🧀 and 🍷 , gourmand sharing platters, showcasing French 🇫🇷 local cuisine or even a relaxed BBQ means that your guests can arrive at any time on different flights and join in the celebrations when suits.

Did you know that only a 2 minute walk away from is the charming Bourneau village church of St Jean-Baptiste, built in 1059?
People have worshipped here for almost 1000 years so these old walls have witnessed many special events over the centuries and some of our Bourneau couples also choose to get married here and exchange their vows in this beautiful sanctuary.

We love al fresco dining across the estate but our favourite spot has to be right in front of ‘s dreaming turrets. 💕 It feels absolutely magical in the château court and a wonderful setting for a gorgeous intimate wedding 🥰✨We have many happy memories of this beautiful moment for a lovely couple surrounded by their loved ones.

We’ve just been back on your TV screens 📺🎬 on 🇬🇧 featuring La Belle Hélène bedroom, in our private West Wing . Did you catch it?
We are so proud of this room, made in honour of châtelain Jean-Baptiste’s sister. It’s a lovely spot to enjoy the slant of afternoon sunshine ☀️ with a good book 📖 and a steaming cup of tea☕, daydreaming to the sonorous peal of medieval church bells and the rush of wind crisping through the poplars. I often wonder how many others, over the centuries, enjoyed the same view of the south tower and moat, dreaming to the same château soundtrack of ancient bells and rustling winds. Perhaps they listen still...?

La Forêt Holiday Cottage

This is our new video presenting La Forêt, one of our four holiday cottages situated in the fairytale estate of the Château de Bourneau. The old converted bakery of the estate can sleep either 6 or 10 with the garden annexe. It has its own private garden with swimming pool and an open fire. About Us

We are Erin & Jean-Baptiste, an Anglo-Franco couple with a love and respect for old buildings and French heritage. Our dream is to restore this beautiful piece of French history and bring it back to its former glory for future generations to enjoy it for years to come. In our other lives, Erin is a doctor and JB is a mechanical engineer!

We host weddings, seminars and bespoke events as well as holiday rentals in the beautiful environment of the 16 hectare park and woodland. Our period accommodation within our four large holiday cottages can sleep between 8-12 people, each with their own private garden and swimming pool. For larger groups, it is also possible to rent out all four cottages that can sleep a total of 42 people.

A stay in our holiday cottages or holding your event here contributes to the restoration and maintenance of this magnificent French monument. Many thanks to all our guests.
