Did you know ?

Closed in 1791, the Mont Saint Michel abbey was converted into a prison, holding up to 300 priests at one point!

Nicknamed “Bastille of the sea”, it was named after the fortress in Paris that served as a state prison during the Ancien Regime. The prison only closed in 1863!
