During our Christmas holidays visiting family in the UK we spotted this wine in Tesco

A dry white wine made from Floreal, a hybrid grape variety developed in France.🧐

Resistant to diseases like mildew, Floreal can be grown with minimal chemical use - which is good for the environment, saves money, reduces both carbon footprint and soil compaction👏

Hybrid grapes like Floreal can also be part of the solution to mitigate the challenges of climate change

It’s exciting to see Tesco champion this unfamiliar grape variety- a bold move and perhaps we will see more on supermarket shelves in the future

The wine itself? Delicious - dry, with lively acidity and peachy aromas, Cheers to more sustainable wines in 2025🥂

Winter work continues in the vines - now the vines are in dormancy its the time for pruning ✂️

This is a precise and manual job each vine is hand pruned to shape it for next years harvest 🧐💪

Lucky with the weather today - cold but bright❄️☀️

We work with the winegrowers through the season when we can - which means our guests get a more informed overview on our tours and at our tastings - join us to get closer to the vines 🙂👍

Healthy soil = healthy vines = better wine in your glass! Yes please !

In between harvest and pruning, winemakers are busy sewing Cover Crops to create those vibrant greens and colourful flowers often seen between vine rows.
Whether it be spring peas, radish or clover, Cover Crops improve soil health, biodiversity, and support sustainability by:
✨ feeding the soil life to improve soil structure
✨ retaining water during droughts or absorbing heavy rains.
✨ attracting beneficial insects that help eliminate pests and diseases, reducing the need for herbicides, pesticides or other nasty chemicals 🐞🌺
✨ creating a thriving mini-ecosystem by offering snacks and shelter for birds, bees, and other wildlife🐝
✨ removing carbon from the atmosphere

Many of the winemakers we visit practice sustainable farming methods, join us on a wine to discover wine that’s as good for the earth as it is in your glass 🍷

Happy ‘Primeur Day’! Today marks the official release of the very first wines from the 2024 harvest.

More commonly celebrated as Beaujolais Nouveau Day, today’s new releases are in fact France-wide and are not limited to the Beaujolais appellation.

Traditionally, these fresh, new wines brought together families & friends to toast the end of the harvest. 🍇🍷

Todays discoveries:
Chantemerle, Beaujolais Primeur 2024 - hand-harvested Gamay grapes that undergo a unique fermentation called Carbonic Maceration, light bodied with fresh red-fruit flavours, as well as candied flavours (remember pear drops?!) 🍐 🍭

Domaine de Mazou, Gaillac Primeur 2024. From SW France, it is 100% Gamay with juicy, ripe red fruits and a velvet finish. 🍒

Muscat de Rivesaltes, 2024. ‘Muscat de Noël’ a celebration wine from Roussillon, Southern France with a style that dates back to the Middle Ages, traditionally served to the Counts of Barcelona during the 12 days of Christmas. Fresh citrus & tropical fruit flavours balance the sweetness. (...pair it with blue cheese... oh my 😋)

All served chilled (c13deg)

Thanks to for the great tasting this morning.

Sunny autumn days mean we’re not yet ready to switch to reds so tonight we’re drinking this Bergerac dry white: Cuvée des Conti from Domaine Albert de Conti - a great example of the blending obligations in the Bergerac appellation.
...Freshness from the Sauvignon blanc, texture and length from short skin contact with the Semillon, floral notes from the Muscadelle. Citrus, green apple, apricot, blossom ... the perfect match for our Friday night fish & chips. 😋

Memories from a recent visit to the medieval village of Saint-Émilion where we soaked up centuries of history ...as well as some of the world’s best wines 😅🍷
A must-do for wine lovers and history buffs alike, its charming 12th-century architecture and narrow, cobbled streets are surrounded by lush vineyards and bright blue skies (on most days!).
Saint-Émilion’s winemaking dates back to Roman times, with the first vines planted around the 3rd century BC. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the region’s wine tradition was safeguarded by monks—among them, the village’s namesake, Saint Emilion—who laid the foundation for the world-renowned wine region we know today.
If you’re planning a trip to southwest France, don’t miss the chance to experience this magical village. Let us create the perfect day trip for you, complete with transport, visits to our favourite wineries, and a knowledgeable guide🤓

🍷Wednesday wine pick: Terre Vieille 2019 Pecharmant. With winter outstaying its welcome - a midweek treat... A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Franc, aged in oak for 12-14 months, now 5yrs old and drinking👌. Blackberries, jammy plums, cedar, clove, vanilla, structured yet velvety 💜. Pairs well with comfort food and cozy evenings, open at least 2 hours in advance for max enjoyment. The weekend seems closer already🌟 Available at cellar door or compare vintages on a wine tour.

What to do on a rainy February mid-week evening? 🤔

Join a cheese and wine pairing evening to learn more about 2 of the most celebrated gastronomic treasures in France! 🧀🍷 With the number of French cheese varieties easily rivalling French grape varieties, pairing them successfully is a matter of trial and error (don’t mind if we do). However, with the hugely knowledgeable Pauline sharing her wisdom and the excellent organic, natural wines from Veronique we tasted some great combinations: Sauvignon blanc with goats cheese, a fizz with mimolette, an oak aged white with gorgonzola, amongst others. Cosy atmosphere provided by 🧡
