How many of you who have visited The Somme battlefields have seen this scene of destruction? Not many? I can't blame you if you haven't. This was a convent in Abbeville. It was destroyed by German bombing in May, 1940. This is how it is today; a reminder that The Somme isn't just about the terrible battles of July to Novembr, 1916.
