There is international disruption today due to a global IT outage earlier. If you are due to fly today here are our tips:
⏰Be at the airport earlier than usual - you may have to be checked in manually
📱Not all airlines are able to update their websites so look at their social media channels for up to date situation
🏧Many retail outlets can't accept card or digital payments so take cash if you want to eat or drink at the airport
🎒Make sure you follow the hand luggage requirements at your departure airport to speed up your journey through security
🖨️If you have the ability to print off your travel confirmations and boarding passes before you go to the airport you should do so

A heads up for you if you are ' Lufthansa flyer. You will notice a change in flight pricing in 2025. Lufthansa and its associated brands Austrian Airlines Eurowings Swiss and Brussels Airlines are all now including an Environmental Cost Surcharge of up to €72 which will cover rising costs due to regulatory environmental requirements. All flights leaving from the EU's 27 nations will be affected - and the UK, Norway and Switzerland are all included.
Departures from 1 January 25 will have the fee applied with the shorthaul economy surcharge being €5 rising to €72 for first class long haul flights.

The surcharge will start Wednesday and affect bookings made across the Lufthansa Group for flights departing in 2025.

British Airways is enhancing its onboard connectivity. From April 3, members of its Executive Club loyalty programme will be able to use the aircraft’s Wi-Fi for messaging free of charge. Applications such as WhatsApp, iMessage, Microsoft Teams, and Facebook Messenger are all included - imited to text-only conversations.

It's due to be available on every BA Wi-Fi-enabled plane by the middle of April. This includes all of the Gatwick fleet and more than 80% of its Heathrow-based aircraft. BA says all of its Heathrow planes will have Wi-Fi connectivity by the end of next year.

Executive Club passengers traveling in any cabin class will be eligible to use the service for the full duration of the flight on a single device.

Although it doesn't take effect until autumn this year, the introduction of the EU's Entry-Exit System will impact UK travellers when they cross the EU external border. Non EU Travellers will be required to have finger prints and facial scans taken when they first enter into any of the 29 participating countries. Need advice on this for your travellers? The last 7 days have seen blizzards and storms which have caused many travellers to end up in locations they didn't expect after hundreds of plane, train and ferry cancellations and diversions.

✈️ Do you travel to Azerbaijan? The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has updated its advice for entry requirements:
All travellers to Azerbaijan bringing mobile phones and wireless devices into the country for the first time must declare these to customs officials at their point of entry. Mobile phone declarations must be submitted with the corresponding IMEI number of the device.
This can be done with written declaration or completed online using Azerbaijan’s customs website and presented to customs officials on arrival. Travellers using local SIM cards and staying in Azerbaijan for more than 30 days are also required to register their mobile phone at a local Post office. Payment is required depending on make and model of a device. Failure to do so could result in the mobile device being locked.
