The weather is finally improving and spring is on the way! ☀️

Whether you’re a family looking for inspiration, a couple looking for a restful retreat or a group of friends seeking an active weekend away, the Visit Southern Oxfordshire website is packed with things to see and do in South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse.

From gentle riverside strolls to challenging hikes, the region offers a variety of walking paths. Experience the natural beauty of Badbury Hill in Coleshill, where woodland paths and trails weave through beech trees and seasonal bluebells, and wander along the iconic Uffington White Horse and the tranquil Thames Path National Trail.

Cyclists can explore numerous trails that wind through picturesque villages and rolling hills, and The Thames provides opportunities for boating, kayaking and paddleboarding.

Backed by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and supported by Tourism South East, South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils have undertaken research to explore the current status, challenges and opportunities of our local visitor economy.

Who is this for?

We invite businesses and stakeholders from the hospitality sector to join us for a presentation where we will pick out the key headlines from our research, including tips to improve the visibility of your organisation to residents and visitors. Please note that spaces are limited.

Why should I attend?

Attendees will be the first to hear about our current and future projects with Tourism South East. We'll be discussing our marketing activity and outlining opportunities for businesses to work with us and get involved in our promotional campaigns. Plus, we'll have a discussion with attendees about their opinions on the future for the sector in our local area.

This session is your opportunity to engage with like-minded entrepreneurs, share insights, and learn from experts about the latest trends and strategies shaping the future of the visitor economy.

Whether you're looking to grow your business, improve operational efficiency or stay ahead of the curve, this event is the place to be. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to build your network and gain practical insights for your hospitality business!

Our next newsletter is now available to read, focusing on rainy day inspiration!

We've handpicked 5 things to do when the weather's looking a bit miserable. Don't let a cold, wet day keep you indoors!

1. Enjoy theatre performances, dance, arts and crafts classes, and arts exhibitions at Cornerstone Arts Centre, then indulge in delicious food and beverages in the Nourish Café!

2. Visitors can engage in hands-on activities, such as handling chicks, bottle-feeding lambs and goat kids, and collecting freshly laid eggs at Farmer Gows. Plus, explore play areas, take tractor rides, take part in daily workshops, and make the most of the café, farm shop and picnic areas.

3. The South & Vale Leisure Centres offer air-conditioned Gyms, indoor swimming pools, fitness class studios hosting a variety of classes, soft play facilities for families and a café.

4. The Beacon, Wantage offers a regular programme of events, including stand-up comedy, live music, theatre productions, guest speakers, film screenings and pantomime. There is also a bar on site, open for all evening events. A variety of classes and workshops take place throughout the year, including health and fitness, martial arts, baby sensory and soft play, and theatre and musical groups.

5. The Vale & Downland Museum is home to galleries that interpret the cultural heritage of the Vale of White Horse, an Artist/Craft Exhibition space and a visitor hub. Regular events and educational programmes take place throughout the year. Plus, sit back and relax in the café!
