We’ve had the most gorgeous weekend in Aldeburgh, with heavy frosts painting everything white and clear blue skies above! Yesterday was the cosiest day ever - a walk along Alde river along the ancient Sailor’s Path, with a little diversion down to the magical Hazlewood Marshes, before a delicious lunch at Snape Maltings, a quick walk back before we lost the light (the moon literally lit the way!) and a cosy evening in with fish and chips and Attenborough on TV with the fire keeping us warm. Simple but perfect 👌

We’re heading in this weekend to take down our Christmas decs. We’ve had our busiest Christmas yet with some lovely guests and reviews are starting to filter through. Here’s the most recent ♥️

We are full for Christmas/NY, but we have 3 weekends left in the Christmas build-up and Aldeburgh is the loveliest spot to feel that build-up. It’s a shoppers paradise with the high street full of independent shops and Snape Maltings only a 5-minute drive around the corner. Our house is large but cosy and we’ve just lovingly decorated it for the season. Food options are amazing whether you want the UK’s best (so they say) fish and chips, a cosy cafe or an evening meal. All within a stroll of our door! Oh, and there’s the beach of course 😃

We’ve finally got our beloved footstools back, re-filled with a new foam and bedecked in a beautiful pseudo-seasidey Linwood material that we spent a looong time choosing. We loved the material so much that we also had a couple of cushion covers made and then, of course, I had to celebrate with a new rug for the room 😂

Sometimes, I think that Aldeburgh beach is actually MORE beautiful in the winter. The sky was on fire and, despite the huge waves, seals were still bobbing their heads up to say hello 🦭❤️

Our new door wreath - my favourite so far. No plastic, it’s all real 💚🍃 (a purchase after our pumpkin decorating on Saturday). I can’t decide if it’s autumnal or festive though!

Botanical pumpkin decorating was very special! I must confess that I’m a bit over pumpkin carving, so this felt like a lovely change (even the tween was happy!). A gorgeously peaceful couple of hours in a lovely setting. They do a range of workshops all year round… FYI guests!

What do you think of the results? We’ll leave the best 2 at the house for guests to enjoy… but I wouldn’t dare comment on which 2 those are 😜

If you follow us closely, you’ll know that we LOVE this local company and have treated little house to their wreaths and dried flower arrangements over the years. We’re excited to be doing one of their workshops today, creating these beautiful pumpkins for guests to enjoy. Look out for our results later 👀🎃 Oh, and if you’re staying with us this week, we’d highly recommend it as a fun activity!

I am very excited to have a plan for the back corner of the garden, especially now we’ve found ‘the one’ - a crab apple tree called Toringo Scarlett. Here is what it will be like once it matures. Hot pink flowers in Spring and glossy burgundy leaves all the way into late autumn, dripping with clusters of tiny crab apples 🍎

Its planting, and the landscaping around it, should be happening next week. Watch this space 👀

Another stunning weekend, this time just me and my favourite 8 year old 💕 She dictated what we did, so it was cycling from our doorstep on Saturday, followed by Orford today for a hearty breakfast with a view then crabbing 🦀 Just perfect!
