🌌 Look Up, North East England! 🌌
This January, the night sky over the North East is offering a rare treat—a stunning planetary parade! 🌠 Six planets are aligning for an incredible celestial display, visible just after sunset.
🌟 What to Look For:
Venus and Saturn will appear close together low in the southwest.
Jupiter will be shining brightly high overhead.
Mars can be seen rising in the east.
Uranus and Neptune are also part of the line-up, but you'll need binoculars or a telescope to spot them as they are fainter.
🌟 When to Watch:
The best time to catch this cosmic show is between 5 PM and 9 PM, with peak visibility around 6 PM.
The planetary parade is most prominent on January 21, 2025, when six planets—Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Venus, and Saturn—align in the evening sky.
However, this alignment is visible throughout January and February 2025, with optimal viewing times just after sunset.
For the best experience, find a location with minimal light pollution and a clear view of the horizon. Remember, while Mars, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn are visible to the naked eye, you'll need binoculars or a telescope to observe Uranus and Neptune.
Make sure to find a spot with minimal light pollution and an open view of the horizon. Let your eyes adjust to the darkness for the best experience!
🌟 Where to Go:
Some great local spots to view the planets include:
Northumberland Dark Sky Park 🌌
Souter Lighthouse, Whitburn
Roseberry Topping
Durham Heritage Coast
If you're struggling with what's what ill post a screenshot of an app that I use to locate them using your phones, Compass and motion sensors just click the Compass in the top left and it will follow your movement. You can search the planets in the bottom left.
