As I look out at the miserable weather today, I found some Spring photos taken around Farringdon when the cow parsley was in bloom and the rain was a distant memory to remind myself that we are blessed in this country to have our different seasons and that the rain is what keeps our beautiful countryside so lush and green!!
We still have some availability in October and whilst I can’t guarantee no rain, I can promise a lovely cosy barn, with plenty of different walks and a wonderful village pub, so do come and stay!

Gorgeous Autumnal colours from the garden for our guests staying for the week. I fear they may miss the best of our Indian Summer but I think they are just delighted to be having a week away from the city!

A lovely early evening dip at West Wittering yesterday!
Needless to say, it was very busy down on the beach, but if you walk right up to the top and around to East Head, it is like a different planet. Hardly anyone there, long swathes of sandy beach and calmer sea. There just aren’t any life guards up at that end so take care and check out the tides if you are planning to swim.

I think our charming Dutch couple who have just checked out, are the first guests to have completed this 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle! It is so pretty (and so impressive) that I don’t want to break it up and put it away!
Lovely to know that our cupboard full of board games and jigsaw puzzles is used by our guests!

A lovely article in this month’s Hampshire Life magazine about the beautiful located less than 10 minutes from The Hay Barn. We are all about supporting local here at the barn and we are proud to offer a complimentary selection of their gorgeous lavender products to our guests.
We thoroughly recommend a visit to this very special spot to admire the lavender, browse in their stunning new shop and enjoy a cup of tea and cake looking over the stunning sea of purple.

Phew, kitchen all back in order and furniture moved back in. There is so much more space in the units so plenty of room for guests to fill the cupboards with supplies!
Next job, new front door - one that doesn’t swell in the wet weather and contract again in the heat!

It’s all hands on deck, cleaning the beautiful new kitchen and flooring in the barn! Thanks to my lovely parents for chipping in with rubber gloves (in the case of my mum!) and lugging kitchen crockery, pots and pans, piles of books etc back downstairs (Dad!).
I am so thrilled with the result of this makeover! The barn feels so much lighter and so fresh and shiny and we can’t wait to start welcoming back guests from mid March.
A few more things to do before then like installing a new front door and a bit of a makeover in the front garden! All to enhance our guest experience further so I hope everyone likes the changes!!

Beautiful cold frosty day today! Nothing like a long brisk dog walk to make plans and lists!
And we have some very exciting plans for The Hay Barn over the next couple of months, to make it an even more lovely place to come and escape from it all!
We are in the process of planning a new kitchen and re flooring the whole of the downstairs. It is going to look awesome and I do love a little interior design project to get stuck into!
