Hof van Saksen never fails to impress, with its thatched farmhouse accommodation, pristine setting, children’s academies, lake beach and play areas, trampolining, indoor and outdoor pools and rapids, restaurants with Lego walls, wellness centre and the world famous waterslides!

💦 The “Bombo” is the largest indoor waterslide in the world where you really feel like you are free falling!

💦 The “Presto” is very fast!! You reach 60km/h on this 115m long slide.

💦 The “Intenso” is a gigantic inner tube slide with light effects.

💦 At 195m long, the “Saltato” is the longest funnel slide in the world! Complete with light effects!

💦 The newest slide, the “Subito” is the largest covered bowl waterslide in the Netherlands. This slide is 120m long and has 1600 twinkling lights!

Minimum height restriction is 1.2m (and minimum age of 8 for the Bombo and the Presto).

🤔 Where to stay for May half term 🤔

You will have probably noticed that the usual Mon to Fri stays in May half term aren’t possible on many parks this year. This is because there is a public holiday on 29/5.

There are ways around this, you just need to know where/how to look. We can help you combine different locations together or find the places where you can still book that Mon - Fri stay.

Arriving Mon 2/6 for 4 nights is also a very good time price wise! (eg prices start from €282 at Landal Rabbit Hill)

“It was a perfect location set in sand dunes, next to a huge expanse of beach and only a 5 minute drive from the lovely town of Ouddorp. The site has plenty of activities for kids, a fantastic play area and a great restaurant. We hired bikes and loved cycling around the local area.”

🇳🇱 Madurodam is a great family day out. As you stroll around this immaculate mini version of the Netherlands you’ll soon discover that it offers a whole lot more than buildings, planes, trains and tulips fields.

⛴️ There are two playgrounds, tons of interactive activities which are suitable for all ages and exhibitions which give an insight into the heritage, trades and traditions of the Netherlands.

🐸 Madurodam is easily accessible from The Hague and Amsterdam and is under 15 minutes from Duinrell.

🇳🇱 Let us introduce you to Texel, one of the 5 ‘Wadden islands’ in the Netherlands.

🚢 Texel is the largest of these islands and is connected to the mainland (just over an hour from Amsterdam) by a short 20 minute ferry crossing.

🏖️ This is a wonderful island to visit with children, where you can soak up island life, swim in the beautiful water, play on the stunning, enormous, sandy beaches and spot seals basking in the sun. With forest trails, grass-topped dunes and the chance to discover the whole island by bike, this is a world away from city life.

We feature two great places to stay on Texel that are perfect for a family holiday:

“We chose this park as we wanted to go somewhere close to the coast…that would cater for our 3 ‘tweens’. Ooghduyne ticked all our boxes.”

The Pitstop family chose Landal Ooghduyne as their first Little Clogs holiday! They loved their bungalow with its mod cons, the beach and dunes, the pool, waterslide and the bowling as well as the opportunity to see the Kinderdijk windmills en route.

This coastal park is about an hour north of Amsterdam and just over the water from the Wadden islands. It’s also a great one for seeing the tulips in April as tulip fields border the park!

A Mon to Fri stay arriving on 7/4 is currently €479 for a 4 person apartment or €529 for a 4 person villa (based on 2 adults and 2 children).

🚢 The convenience and ease of travelling by ferry makes it a great option for getting to the Netherlands or Belgium.

🇳🇱 It’s good to know that ferry companies like P&O who cross between Hull and Rotterdam, offer rooms for 5 people too.

☕️ What we really love are the little extras you get when booking a Club cabin. The cabin itself is a little roomier and you get a mini fridge stocked with complimentary beverages. There are some snacks like biscuits and crisps and hot drinks too.

🍴On board, we recommend taking a walk to the outer deck to take a look out to sea. There are also a few places to choose to eat including a Costa Coffee and a buffet restaurant, where you pay a set rate and can eat as much, or as little as you like.

🎥 If there’s still time left before settling down for a good night’s sleep, why not pop by the soft play, watch a film in the cinema, or enjoy some of the entertainment in the lounge/bar.

👶🏻 Indoor play 👶🏻

Nearly all of the child friendly holiday parks in our collection our open all year round and have indoor pools and indoor play so they’re great to visit at any time of the year!

Some of the largest indoor play areas can be found at Hof van Saksen, Beekse Bergen, Landal Rabbit Hill, Landal de Lommerbergen and Landal Esonstad (see park links in the comments). These have areas for different ages and some nice seating areas with food and drink options!

The Hof van Saksen area is huge (over 1000m2) and last year was extended further with a new baby and toddler play paradise for little ones! The indoor activity centre, together with the trampolining centre, bowling and some of the academies, now offers nearly 4000m2 of space to play.

The addition of the brand new “Speelland Indoor” at Beekse Bergen is a brilliant addition to this resort and provides over 2000m2 of indoor play with a tropical island theme.

🦒 Beekse Bergen early booking offer for May half term 🦒

Time is running out to book Beekse Bergen for May half term with the early booking offer! This is valid on bookings made at least 120 days in advance so this expires in the next week for May half term.

The offer is valid on all accommodation including the safari hotel where there are still rooms available (all rooms have amazing views of the animals).

The Savannah Lodges on the main savannahs (Serengeti and Masai Mara) are now sold out but some of the Lodges (eg 660s and 670s) are great ones, and are only a short walk up to the Masai Mara and the giraffes. These Lodges also have a grassy woodland area to play on in front.

Prices start from €796 for a Forest Cabin on the Lake Resort for a Mon to Fri stay arriving on 26/5 (based on 2 adults and 2 children).

🇳🇱🌷 Today is National Tulip Day in the Netherlands signaling the start of the season when you can buy these vibrant, beautiful flowers.

2025 marks Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary and in recognition of both celebrations, Museumplein, behind the Rijksmuseum has become a huge garden where anyone can come and pick a bunch of tulips of their own (including bulbs).

If you’d like to catch this celebration in future then each 3rd Saturday in January is National Tulip Day.
