🙋🏻‍♀️We’re still here! The weeks are flying by with another Friday changeover ticked off in time for new guests arriving this afternoon. 🫧🧽

We’ve been super busy and have been having some lovely feedback in our guest book (thank you!) with lots of guests rebooking for next year. We’ve been a bit quiet on here so thought I’d pop on and say hello! 👋🏻 It’s a rainy morning after the most beautiful spring day yesterday but that suits me fine as I’ve a mountain of paperwork to be tackling (with the ‘help’😏 of my little sidekick).

Tomorrow marks the start of our full week bookings which we run on a Friday to Friday basis right through the season until the end of October. We weren’t sure how introducing shorter 3 night minimum stays would go over the winter but we’ve been pretty flat out which has kept me on my toes- so thank you! We definitely plan to do this again next winter! 🙌🏻

Between Tigh na Croit and things get pretty manic in our house from now on so I try my hardest at this time of year to get our ducks in a row as much as we can before things really kick off. This week has been a week of list ticking and I think we’re just about good to go.🤞🏻Wishing all our friends and local businesses a busy and successful 2024 season! 🎉

Frosty scenes of a frozen Tayvallich bay on the school runs this week (or as we like to call it in our car- slush puppy sea!) A particularly dry and cold snap in Tayvallich but absolutely beautiful and I’d choose this over January rain any day! ❄️🧊🩵❄️🧊🩵

Happy new year! 🎉 I hope you all had a good time whatever you were up to.✨ Our Hogmanay guests left this morning and with more arriving tomorrow for the week you’re not giving me much winter down time (thank you!🙌🏻☺️) Schools went back yesterday here and I’m on changeover duty today … podcast on, coffee on the go and nobody shouting ‘mummy!’ until at least 3pm is just what I needed after a lively but lovely festive period.🧽🫧

I’ve got myself a little ‘helper’ 😏 on today’s changeover.

Between and it’s been another busy season for us which has been great- thank you so much to everyone for all your support! 🧡💙

Its hard to believe we’re now into November so I’ve actually booked out the cottage for myself for the next couple of days- not for a holiday (shame!)🙈 but just to take stock and tick off a few wee jobs I want to get done before welcoming another run of bookings towards the end of the year. 🏠

Hello! 👋🏻 We’re still here … apologies for the radio silence! 🫢

Along with lots of other areas of the country we’ve been experiencing some pretty wild weather on the west coast this past few weeks (understatement!🙈)

We usually manage to start enjoying a bit of downtime with at this time of year to get caught up on other jobs but not this time! We spent the October holidays organising and managing the logistics of a ferry service between nearby Crinan and Ardfern due to a major landslide causing road closures. Life has been a little hectic in our house to say the least! 🙈 We are well and truly into the swing of things now though and while the Oban road is still closed, don’t panic- you can still get to us in Tayvallich via the usual routes! 😅

We were treated to the most beautiful glowy autumn morning yesterday on the pre school run so stopped for a quick snap! 📸

Off to the laundrette and to tick off some other jobs today before our Friday changeover tomorrow. Excited to be welcoming new guests and while dates seem to be filling up for November and December there are still a few options available for a last minute break! You know where to find us! 🙌🏻

Don’t forget! Ally's Bike Hire available in Tayvallich with bikes being delivered to the door! 🙌🏻🚲

Loads of good trails and rides straight from the doorstep of Tigh na Croit including Taynish Nature Reserve and local forestry tracks 🚴🏻‍♀️🚵‍♂️ (I find bikes also provide a handy option for tootles over to the beach or to the Tayvallich Inn for a well deserved post cycle refreshment! 😉🍻)

Still (desperately!😅) clinging on to August over here but there was a definite hint of autumn in the air in Tayvallich this morning! 🍂

Week long bookings are coming in for summer 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣ but if you can’t wait that long then the exciting news is that we now also have the option for slightly shorter stays (3 nights minimum) through the autumn and winter months! The perfect spot for a cosy escape. 🥰

Twas the night before Tayvallich Regatta and the Mid Argyll Show, when all through the house�Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse … except from all the daddies who were trying to organise rowing boats and find lost oars and all the mummies who were trying to bake cupcakes whilst drying washing and searching for life jackets and wellies and waterproofs and suncream and pack all the changes of clothes and maybe at some point manage to wash their hair with the very small glimmer of hope that by this time tomorrow they’ll all be together having a large gin outside the Tayvallich Inn. 😅 It’s rather a lot … but Regatta Show day will always be my favourite day of the year. Beats Christmas hands down in our house! 🙈

A Sunday well spent! ☀️

Can highly recommend a trip to Skipness and ! Just a bit over an hours drive from Tayvallich and down the Kintyre peninsula you’ll find the small but very lovely village of Skipness. The kids, my sister-in-law and I had a fab day there today in the sunshine ☀️. We spent time exploring the castle, admiring the views over to Arran, guddling on the beach, swimming in the sea and my favourite part (obviously!🤭)- lunch at The Seafood Cabin! It was scrummy and such a lovely place to sit outside and enjoy fresh local seafood in beautifully rustic surroundings. Good ponies and sheep too- bonus! 🏰🏝️⛱️👙🦐🦞🍤🐟🐴🐑

Definitely a good day out and one to add to the list!

A beautiful night in Tayvallich tonight for the local kid’s sailing and rowing club. ⛵️🚣🏻‍♀️ the rain is off and there was just enough of a breeze to keep the midgies away. Lovely!

The village pier and slipway is less than 100m from Tigh na Croit and is the perfect spot to launch boats, kayaks, paddle boards, etc.

And don’t forget, we have plenty of space to the side of the house to park up your trailers and equipment- so you can arrive adventure ready! 🏄🏼‍♀️🚣🏼🚴🏻‍♂️🏊🏻‍♀️🛻🛶⛵️🚤

Venture West has been stealing my time a little this last while 😏 but this is definitely worth a share. Many of our guests head out for a VW trip while they are staying in Tigh na Croit with some even telling us it’s been the highlight of their stay! 🐬🧡

If you’re only visiting for a week and fancy a boat trip then it’s definitely worth booking in advance to avoid disappointment. The website link below lets you do this and to have a little look at what’s on offer too. Worth a click!

Who’s got that Friday feeling?! ☀️

It’s been absolutely beautiful here this week. I’ve been flat out with paperwork and recently so haven’t been keeping you as up to date with Tigh na Croit as I’d like but just checking in with a quick hello 👋🏻 from me!

Took the kids down for a quick swim at the pier after school and managed to bag myself some prawns 🦐 from . Straight from the sea to the pot- happy days! (It’s not all insta worthy though- don’t worry. There’s also a buffet of chicken nuggets, chips and ketchup being eaten by kids in wet swimming costumes at the other end of our table tonight. It’s been one of those weeks! 🌪️)

Kids heading to the bath soon and then early to bed. 🤞🏻🙏🏻

A quick fly by and a toot toot from daddy this afternoon! 🧡

It’s been a crazy week in our house in the run up to the Jura Fell Race. We managed to grab a few hours all together yesterday on Jura to cheer on my much fitter brother and sister in law who were running the race. 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♀️A huge well done to them from me who spent the afternoon drinking , catching up with good friends and clapping from the finish line (much more my bag!👏🏻🥂)

Guests in Tigh na Croit will have seen lots of out the window this week as we’ve had two boats running simultaneously alongside the to get everyone to and from Jura.

The Jura Fell race is known as one of the toughest races in the British hill running calendar. With only 200 spaces available, 2370m of climbing over 7 summits and at a distance of 28km it’s not for the faint hearted! Congratulations to all the runners- especially teams Jura and Westies! ❤️🖤💛

Non stop boat runs again today but fingers crossed it’ll finally be a full house for dinner (plus some extra skippers!) tonight! Best get cooking. 🙌🏻
