The Islay Malts. Some of which are the strongest-flavoured of all malt whiskies - a characteristic popular with many enthusiasts.
Much of Islay is covered by thick layers of peat, used for generations by the whisky industry. Most of Islay’s water is brown, including water in the burns and in winter gales drive salt spray far inland. This saturates the peat, which is dried again by the briny, seaweedy breeze. All these characteristics go into the whiskies of Islay.

First visit today... King Robert the Bruce 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

The Beals on tour, standing under the statue of the mighty Robert the Bruce, King of Scots, at Stirling Castle.
His figure faces south, towards the location of the Battle of Bannockburn, where in 1314 he successfully fought back a much larger English army that is today widely considered a landmark moment in Scottish history.

In the background is Leanach Cottage, one of the last survivors of a once common single storey thatched building. During the Battle of Culloden in 1746, Leanach Cottage was situated in between the Government lines and it is likely the building would have been used as a field hospital for the government men.

Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky do a wonderful job of looking after our guests. Nearly 2 hours spent here today and much whisky purchased that's now destined for the USA.
