A little treat to enjoy during your stay. ☕️🫖🥪🍰
Afternoon Tea Week takes place every August during the second full week. This delightful celebration is dedicated to the quintessentially British tradition of taking tea in the afternoon. It’s a time to indulge in the classic combination of tea, finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and a variety of cakes, encouraging people to take a break from their busy lives, relax, and enjoy this elegant and leisurely ritual.
The tradition dates back to the early 19th century, credited to Anna, the Duchess of Bedford, who started having tea and light snacks in the afternoon to stave off hunger until dinner. This practice quickly caught on among the upper class and became a popular social event. Today, the tea ritual is enjoyed by people all over the world, symbolising a moment of relaxation and indulgence.
