From train to Ridgeway Trail, try the popular Views of the Vale walk through Wendover Woods or a shorter Coombe Hill circuit with far-reaching views right along the Ridgeway.

The Wendover circuit is 7 miles and will take between 3 to 4 hours. Through ancient beech woods, you might also see red kites and firecrests and the tiny muntjac deer.

There's Boddington hillfort along the way, an important archaelogical site occupied during 1st century BC, but probably earlier. Situated on top of the hill, the fort would have provided an excellent vantage point and defensive position for its Iron Age inhabitants. In the past the hill was cleared of trees for grazing animals. Finds have included a bronze dagger, pottery and a flint scraper.

There is a cafe and toilet stop at the Wendover Woods cafe, but no facilities on Coombe Hill and plenty of options along Wendover high street.

We are very excited and proud to say we are now producing our own range of charcuterie. From this week you will find Block & Butcher produced Pancetta and Nduja in the counters.
Our Pancetta is made in a very traditional style, using a very simple but beautiful recipe. This is a slow process but really is worth the weight.
We have tried and tasted these products and are confident these are the real deal and will elevate your cooking to the next level.

If you haven’t heard of Brew Monday (aka Blue Monday), it’s all about connecting with others over a warm drink to help beat the winter blues. It’s a great excuse to grab a cuppa, have a chat, and lift your spirits – especially when the cold, dark days can make us feel a bit lonely. 🌧️

✨ What’s Brew Monday all about?
It’s a chance to take a break, enjoy a warm drink (tea, coffee – you choose!) and a biscuit πŸͺ, and have a good old natter with like minded people and make new friends. Plus, you'll get to hang out with our adorable miniature ponies! 🐴❀️

Brew Monday is an initiative by Samaritans, a charity that offers emotional support to people in times of crisis. It was created in response to β€œBlue Monday,” often thought of as the most depressing day of the year. The Samaritans wanted to flip the script and make it a day to focus on connection, kindness, and emotional well-being. 🌟

πŸŒŠπŸš£β€β™‚οΈ Raising Funds for the Adjutant General's Corps Association Charity & Supporting the Oarsome Army Educators πŸš£β€β™€οΈπŸŒŠ

A dedicated six-person team at RAF Halton is taking on an incredible challenge to raise funds for the Adjutant General’s Corps Association Charity. This charity plays a crucial role in providing welfare and support to troops, veterans, and families of those employed or retired from the AGC. πŸ’‚β€β™‚οΈπŸ’™

The team is also raising awareness for the Oarsome Army Educators, a four-person crew from the Army Education Services currently competing in the world’s toughest row, a 3,000-mile journey across the Atlantic Ocean. πŸŒŽβš“ While the Oarsome Army Educators are navigating the waves, the RAF Halton team plans to row the equivalent distance on static rowers between 16th Dec 2024 and 21st Jan 2025.

This effort is part of a larger initiative led by the MPGS (Military Provost Guard Service), involving approximately 70 personnel from units across the UK. Together, they are working tirelessly to support these remarkable causes and push themselves to the limit. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’ͺ

πŸ“£ Support Their Effort:
πŸ‘‰ Follow their progress and cheer them on.
πŸ‘‰ Donate to the AGC Association Charity and Oarsome Army Educators.
πŸ‘‰ Share this message to help spread the word.

This inspiring team is determined to make waves for their community. 🌟
