1) IRON ORE PIGMENT MAKING WORKSHOP
Make red iron oxide pigment from raw earth material with Tricia Kelly from Ócar. Try out art materials made from this ancient natural colour that lies below the landscape of Antrim and create your own work of art.

A large team of smelters and blacksmiths from around the world will smelt iron ore taken from the Antrim Iron Ore Mines, create iron from it and forge heritage items.

For the first time, the Old Church Centre will showcase a collection of paintings (kindly donated) from artists, who in their day, were known all over Ireland and beyond. We are now in a special position to display a collection of beautiful works of Charles McAuley, Rowland Hill, Maurice Wilks, James Humbert Craig, Kenneth Webb and Hans Iten. In collaboration with many different art collectors, we are now in a special position to exhibit the best Northern Irish artists of the mid-20th century in one space.

This exhibition will run on the weekends of 8th & 15th June, open from 11am-5pm and everyone is most welcome. There is no entry fee.

Another great day of activities

Good morning on Day 2 of HOTGF 2023!

Hope you all had great fun yesterday, it was great to see all the crowds enjoying the entertainment. Main events today include a Sunday Cycle with Glens CC & the Art Exhibition by local Artists in the Glens Youth Club. Then we officially open the Heart of the Glens Festival with the Community Festival Parade starting at 1.45pm. The children's Fancy Dress Parade will be part of this and of course the fantastic Lorry Parade!
For the golfing enthusiasts the Ryder Cup competition takes place at Cushendall Golf Club.
