Latest review – how lovely! Thank you lovely Julia G Roberts !!
If you are looking for a break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life look no further. Sheepwash is a small village in the Devon countryside and the house is at the heart of it, across the square from the small village shop, which is also a post office, and the village pub. We visited with Covid 19 restrictions in place but were still able to enjoy a takeaway dinner from the pub which I must say was very tasty enjoyed outside in the courtyard garden where we had the majority of our meals. We needed space to holiday as three different elements of the same family and Debbie’s place offers this in abundance. We made daily use of the space in the barn set up with some pieces of gym equipment. The television is also located in there, although we only watched it one rainy afternoon, preferring to gather in the lounge with it’s impressive inglenook fireplace to play board games in the evening - I imagine it is even cosier in the winter with the log-burning stove lit. There was a good selection of games provided and if you enjoy reading, you are in book-lovers heaven. The kitchen is quirky but of a good size and is well-equipped. All the bedrooms in the main house are of a decent size, two of which are en-suite with good sized showers that were spotless. Nice touches, like quality shower gel and hand wash were appreciated. We spent several days of our stay relaxing in the back garden which has the sun throughout the day - it was lovely to hear the sounds of nature with no background hum of traffic. When we did venture out to the coast, we visited Bude, around 30 minutes drive away, Clovelly, a charming fishing village and Instow, near Bideford which was my favourite. Comfortable, welcoming and full of character is how I would describe Debbie’s home - don’t expect modern soulless five-star luxury because you won’t find it here, it has much more heart. We all enjoyed our staycation and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending for a ‘get away from it all’ holiday The Maxwells
