Lost in Translation: Airline Speak for Travelers ✈️
Ever feel like airline websites and tickets are written in a whole other language? They often are and you are not alone if you struggle to understand the meanings of many of the terms used. Like many others, the airline industry loves its acronyms and jargon. But fear not, here's a quick guide to deciphering some common terms:

OW vs. RT: This is simple! OW = One-Way, RT = Round-Trip. See also Multi-Trip = When you have more than one destination. Just don't ask about open-jaws...
Looking for a deal? Look for terms like "promo fare" or "discount travel."
Layover vs. Stopover: A layover is a short wait between connecting flights. A stopover is a longer planned break in your journey (sometimes even overnight or longer). This can be a great way to explore another city!
Not sure what "ETD" means? It's Estimated Time of Departure. Its cousin "ETA" is Estimated Time of Arrival.
Confused about baggage fees? "Checked baggage" means you stow your suitcase in the airplane's cargo hold (sometimes at an extra cost). "Carry-on" is the luggage you bring on board with you (be sure to check size and weight restrictions!).

May to October: This is the dry season and is generally considered the prime time for safaris in the Delta.

By June 2024, we will meet the new security regulations that will allow passengers to retain liquids and electronics in their cabin baggage.

This will be completed no later than June 2024. Until then, we kindly remind passengers that there are no changes to liquids requirements when travelling through Newcastle.

- Liquids must be 100 ml or less and fit in a transparent one-litre re-sealable plastic bag no larger than 20cm x 20cm.
- Essential liquid medicine over 100ml is allowed with a doctor’s note or prescription and prior approval from your airline.
- Baby products, including baby milk, sterilised water for powdered feed and food is allowed and subject to additional screening.
- All electronic items must be removed from your hand luggage before screening.
