Bembridge Lifeboat Station and beach

We visited near low tide when it’s a great place to explore the shallow waters. RNLI gift shop near the small car park, but there is an overflow field for parking. Food van for drinks and ice cream.
You must walk up to the lifeboat station, I think it’s open 10-4 each day. Tuesday evenings offer a chance to see the lifeboat launched. Do check their page Bembridge RNLI

Quarr Abbey visit to the cafe this morning. Lots of seating in a lovely setting. I did see the piglets dozing, but forgot to take a cute photo.
Just up the road from the Fishbourne ferry terminal, so worth a visit.

This morning I treated myself to a mango and coconut smoothie at Tradewinds. It was definitely a treat at £8, but it was delicious. (Making the most of my free time before the island schools break up)
I forget what a nice stretch of beach it is between Sandown Pier and Shanklin, which many don’t make use of. When the tide is out, you get a lovely flat sandy beach and much quieter than Sandown Beach. There is a car park up by Blueberrys Cafe, council charges apply. If I’m having lunch at the Hideaway up on the cliff, I’ll park on St Boniface Road if there’s space.

The Blacksmiths pub - between Newport and Tapnell Farm

Stopped for lunch here on Saturday and feel daft I’d never been before. The dining room has great views and the older part of the pub (where we sat as it was quieter for my son) was cosy.
Great food and I like how they do smaller portion option, both dishes here were £12 and the right size for a lunch.

The caravan is now booked up until the end of August, however Peach Chalet has more availability
The chalet has one double bed and a toddler bed, is dog friendly with only a short walk to Yaverland beach. Site is quite and works as a great base.

Lovely outing to the Ventnor Botanic Gardens this week, first visit since moving over here more than two years ago. Lots of great plants and trees, plus a cafe with outdoor seating to enjoy the views.
There is a gate from the gardens to access the path down to Steephill Cove ( a 5 minute walk) and of course we had to visit the Crab Shed for some delicious pasties.

Fun on Sandown Pier - Trying to shoot 2p’s into the pig’s mouth kept my eldest happy for ages, whilst the younger one was all about the claw machines. We’ve not won on the claw machines in three years and then two wins in two days!
